Let me set an example. By bicycle, if I ride 8 miles, I can do that in 45 minutes on a good day. That also means I keep going, and don't stop unless really necessary to do so.

Another example would be my recent 10-block walk to the Metra. Now, many people cannot walk 1.2 miles in less than 20 minutes without having endured other ways to get used to it.

What about you? How many of you are endurance athletes? Keep in mind, though that not everyone can do this. It takes a long time to get used to it.

Walking 1.2 miles is not an endurance distance for healthy people. When I was a runner (before the knees went kapooey), a daily run of three miles was barely a warm up. Most of the races we ran were 5-10k's (3.1-6.2 miles). I did a few 10-milers and a half-marathon. The most I did on a bike was a half century (50 miles).

I'm in terrible shape right now due to adjusting to Parkinson's and the meds. I'm slowly building up my endurance again. I can walk one mile under 20 minutes, and I'm adding a little distance each week. I have to be more careful about tripping now because my gait is awkward but I'm adapting.

^^^^ I have not get there to half marathon or full marathon yet. I still am on 10 K miles.

Not into endurance running but do endurance swimming- 60 laps 25 metre pool in about 1/2 hour. Almost everyday. except when pool closed-say today.
Works out to 1 1/2KM.

Same here. I did some more or some less each day. But i had to stop i do want to get back on it.

I'm a long-distance driver and rider. no problem driving/riding for several hours.
