What languages do you know? What are some of your favorite phrases in the languages you know? This thread can also can be used to from time to time post things that relate to language in general.

For me, one of the languages I know is Latin. Over 60% of English terms come from Latin. For example, one term in Latin is femina and this means lady, woman.

It is because Klingon is not an official language used. :)

That's cool you know Spanish. I took one class of Spanish and couldn't finish the second level because I got a new full time job. I still would love to master Spanish. Hablo espanol! Me gusta tacos!

You are going to learn Chinese? Wow!

I'd like to learn Japanese because my favorite manga are originally written in Japanese.

I took a year of Latin my freshman year of high school, a year of German my junior year, and two semesters of French in college but I never became fluent in any of them. I also tried to learn Russian on my own when I was a teen but not very successful with that. I learned a tiny bit of Greek when I was about 13. But I wouldn't say that I "know" those languages.

Romanian... boom... shocker. Romanian is Latin based. Of course, Romanian is a vomit of Latin, Spanish, Roman, French, Russian and some other crap thrown in there... buuuuuut, it's Latin based. *shrug*

Being I was raised speaking Romanian, I don't believe I have any "favorite" phrases per se.... :dunno2:

German is my first language and my favorite phrase in any language is the same but not appropriate. however I will go with Kaffee fertig because in any language coffee being done is a great thing :)
