intelligent people more prone to use drugs - here's why ...

I have read only two pages out of 4 and I will read later, I can't read too long, its killing my neck. Will read the rest but I had to admit, the first page DOES makes sense to me. I have seen already and yes, I do see the difference but I didn't realize til you mention this link. Very interesting.

Back, laying down to relieve pain.

I don't do drugs so I guess I am not intelligent. :(

medications is prescribed drugs, for doctors controlling 'health issues'...not quite the some
i talking about pot, trips, H, speed, oil, E and oh yea some prescribed stuff can be abused and get nasty.....like Oxycontin (or OC, or OXY), these are BAD shit, well anything that's synthetic is BAD....

if regarding over counter legal prescribed as abused like as in pill-popping to get highs yes that's 'drug use' er drug abuse....but then im MY EYE drug abuse only occurs if its prolonged, and during every waking hours with obvious damages to mental and physical status, and to use illicit dope as in weekends or for seldom as 'special' like the way some ordinary not drunks , to get drunk on a binge say having wine on sunday afteroon with 2 bottles instead one, or one a month to have a joint, or once a week even to me its not drug abuse, its drug use, its recreational use.....but drug abuse or destructive use

that's how i see it

i dont use any now (no contacts), and if i had contact it would be only be for weed, but my rule is , never from the same town...., but ive been too busy amd too broke to even consider this luxury...

oh well , i can handle it, no problems I don't miss it badly, nah

drug trade now is too gripped with gangs, i'd prefer to buy from (smart the bright ones) teens, late teen early 20s who's in uni, because they grow it good and are cool.... i know from experience, gangs just go in bushes and steal other people's , they are lazy assholes

Difference between being intelligent/i.e. "book smarts" and "common sense"....many intelligent people make stupid mistakes....ahh...don't we all?...Knowing your limitations regarding drugs/alcohol....is common sense, IMO.....Have known so many highly intelligent people that became and were drug/alcohol addicts.....risky behavior...Many intelligent people become bored with the mundane...needing and wanting more to challenge their intellect....Guessing too...some people feel invincible to addiction.

you're right there too, boredom is a real problem...

It didn't say only intelligent people use drugs.

Chill ax

Right, the keyword was "Likely" which translates into higher chance of people with higher IQ doing dope.

I read the whole 4 pages, and the last page is what I have seen (People changes behavior)

OFC, it is just another theory. For years government banned experiments and test on any schedule 1 drugs, that is how we end up with limited hard information.

It didn't say only intelligent people use drugs.

Right. I think it's also important to note that intelligence doesn't simply translate to ability to absorb and store knowledge, to learn. Intelligence also encompasses an openness to new thoughts, new ideas, new experiences, and more abstract thinking. Those qualities would certainly find an appeal in at least trying different drugs.

I don't do drugs so I guess I am not intelligent. :(

I won't take this thing so serious , who know ten years from now people could be saying something totally difference about what kind of people use drugs .

Personally I don't think it's a matter of taking it too seriously, it's more a matter of not treating it like a blanket statement.

It's not like they're saying....smart people use drugs stupid people don't.

The qualities of someone with a high IQ would increase a likelihood of at least drug sampling.......and their reasons for trying drugs would be different than the reasons of less intelligent people.

Grummer it isn't that expensive .... a quarter = $30 US

I know but I bet some people will take this serious , I know my ex husband would had. LOL! He came home and told me he was going on a 'water ' fast for 4 days and I was thinking how odd b/c he hate to drink water. He thought a water fast meant you did NOT drink any water for 4 days!
He would take this drug thing very serious .

I think a lot of people won't actually read the article and just read the title and say

See, I do drugs so that means I'm smart. Validating their own high opinion of themselves.

Or

I don't do drugs, so this article says I must be dumb so I'm not going to read it. Thereby dismissing the article to keep intact their high opinion of themselves.

So you're right. People will take it too seriously.

It's all too common for people to comment their opinion on things without ever reading the article. He'll I've been guilty of it :D

Mostly this article was focusing on high childhood IQs.
