I'm not particularly in one, but it always seems that after I've paid my bills, I hardly have any left for myself, but that's not the case this month, because in addition to the checks I received to pay my bills, I'm also getting one for some computer work, and that'll help somewhat, but with the impending major snowstorm, it may be a while before I can actually get it.

Now my question is, how many of you feel like you're being squeezed?

WOW you stay up late. I'm lucky and am not really squeezed. We stayed on the budget we set up many years ago. If we don't have the money, we don't buy it.

I do, don't I? It's because of that snowstorm that's coming in, and I want to get to the store at 7, and get my shopping done before it hits.

Two of my adult children like to stay up really late. It's late for me now but I can't fall asleep due to pain.

Huh. I can sleep, but I'm electing not to, cause there's to much happening to even risk getting some shut-eye.

Speaking of which, time for me to march off to Dunkin Doughnuts for a fresh bite to eat. I'll be back in about 20 minutes, cause it's -2 outside.

Not at the moment, no, but when a business hires me to do computer work, I get a small pay-- not large enough for taxes.

Everyone has a budget crunch. Unless your made out of loot. its how the system is designed. to separate you form your loot. almost everyone me included are trapped int he rat race. sucks but true
unless i win the ghetto lottery or the jackpot, i'm gonna die in this state.
that signed
a couple of things one can do to alleviate the pressure. learn to enjoy the remaining free things in life (getting less). adapt your needs and wants, learn to like saving as opposed to spending.
most stuff most people buy and or have bills for aren't so much needs or wants then things they have been adapted into believing they want or need.
act accordingly. see the game for what it is.

Oh how do you afford to pay your home with no job?

I don't OWN it; I rent a room here, and it's under the Chicago Housing Authority, which means that this house is a government sponsered house, and under HUD rules. My rent is under $400 a month, and my government checks? Well, let's just say I earn enough to pay all my bills and still get by.

i squatted for some years in my 20s. but i do say if your gonna squat Europe is the place. damn. squats in berlin had power, running water, u name it. crazy germans........

You have any idea how much a regular apartment goes for aroud here? The prices are sky-high.... anywhere between $800 to $1,400 a month, with downtown Chicago as much as $4,000 a month.

yep. harsh world. think it through. long term goals here son.
you can do it

Used to be but I made a New Year's resolution to myself two years ago not to add new bills but to get rid of them. I have stuck with it and my finances are much more healthy now. I just want to make more money so I can save faster for home renovations and I have had no raise in 6 years so that's why I am looking for another job for better pay.

More like I'm-never-getting-out-of-government-controlled-housing. You see, they pay most of the rent, and I pay a very small portion, but here where I live, I pay it all.

no son. do yourself a favour and strip that "im never getting out of gov housing" from your mind.
sure you can. YES YOU CAN! and if you want it bad enough you will make it happen. cmon man. you have a long life a head of you. make it better. YOU CAN DO IT.

can you go back to school ??

It is something I'd like to do someday, yes, cause my skills in the technology world could use some fine-tuning, and given that I'm pretty good already, I just want to better improve it.
