In my opinion, 21 is alot more mature than the age of 18....I would say I totally agree with WaterRat13, I do remember myself being at the age of 18 and still drinks but when I got to the age of 21, I became more wiser and mature..

I wouldn't want to see this law changes in America...

Well, After a long research over alcholicism on 18 yrs old.. Just keep in mind.. that your body is still developing at 18 yrs old.

drinking beer, etc.. will harm the bodies of 18 yrs old.. and many of them lost their control getting accidents, damage things, etcetc.. College students are one of the major problems while 18 is legal age of drinking.

i believe 21 is a proper age.. and i support that law. and 21 is the most mature people than 18 yrs old are.

Let's look at it this way. We aren't officially adults until we're 18. We can't leave the house (parents) until we're 18. We can't join the army until we're 18. We can't smoke until we're 18. We can't watch NC-17 movies until we're 18. We can't watch porn until we're 18. We can't legally have sex until we're 18. There's a lot of things we can't do until we're 18. EXCEPT... we gotta wait until we're 21 just to drink alcohol! Grr!

Now, here's the problem:
We finish high school. We're so eager to get out of the house. We're now 18. Smoking isn't a big deal for anyone. Sex isn't a big deal for anyone. Watching porn isn't a big deal for anyone. Why? Because many people do it before they turn 18. When they turn 18, there's no joy or temptation to doing those things because it's now old news. However, for drinking... it's something they still can take joy out of and be tempted to be "bad" by drinking before the age of 21. That means, we've got 3 more years of wreckless drinkers. Now, if we lowered it to 18... then there would be less joy and temptation to drinking just like everything else. Ever watch "Spring Break"? Ever go to college parties? What do most parties have in common? A bunch of underage drinkers and that's asking for more trouble. What do most bars have in common? Mature 21 year old drinkers because they know they can drink in public without problem, but don't do anything foolish so they don't look stupid. If we lowered it to 18, then there would be less illegal parties and more legal bar visits... with mature adults drinking wisely.

Here's something else to keep in mind. I'm 18... I brag, "Hey, I'm smoking!" So what? I brag, "Hey, I'm drinking!" Ooohhh! You're so cool! Well, if it was 18... then my bragging wouldn't matter cuz it's "normal" instead of "bad" or "cool".

Liebling:-))) and I went to two or three different pubs per week when we were sweet 16 with other college students. We never got kicked out from the Pub Landlord for being served us under-age drinkers!
Looking back I cannot believe we make it! hee hee

Like what RedRum remind me of our times.. We went to Pub when we were 16 years old but we know we would not drink any acholc but juices...

but everybody disobey that... so many partys and people buy us the alcohol... for party...

it is legal to be smoking in public when you are 16...
and to drink in public is 18...

Smoking wasnt a big deal for 18 yrs old. But....with alcohol you have to be 21. Why?? Because alcohol have effect on driving skills. With 18 yrs old with developing mind like that will increase high death rate at younger age than in 21 years of age. But people at age 18 will sneak out getting beers and go out driving this time of age will be highly likely get into car accident or get killed in accident. Or it is possible get in car accident killing other driver who not drunk, but not the drunk driver. But at age 21, people are more responible and have clear thinking head knowing what to drink or not to drink. Also they are more mature knowing what to do. Now you understand what I'm talking about this time??
