Some posters in another thread suggested that it might be beneficial to start a new section (or sub-section) for posters seeking help with English grammar and writing. It would NOT be a place to criticize the English grammar of other posters. It would be a positive place for posters to request tutorial help, proofreading, or writing suggestions. It could also be a source for discussing tricky English euphemisms and idioms, or offering tips for learning some of the grammar and spelling "rules".

What do you think?

Would be helpful, but I wondering how many people would go there? :dunno:

I would go cuz I am not native English reader/writer. It is my foreign language and it would be good to improve my English :D

Alex , can you hear me ? :giggle:

Yes I find those suggestion, you made here is good, Reba.

Thanks but I can't take all the credit. Other ADers thought of it first. I just created the thread. :)

It's my post what I personally think of, not for ADers since you ask us "What do you think?" like every ADers make their own posts what they personally thought of, not for us. We are adults and make our decision either we can agree or not to any suggestion threads.

Huh?

I would love something like that. It would be a positive way to help each other. :)

A place to ask questions about English spelling, punctuation, and grammar is a great idea, even if it only gets used every once in a while.

I have several dictionaries and thesauri ("thesauruses" is also accepted by Webster if you don't like to use the Greek plual, ha ha ha) in my computer and three grammar books for U.S. publications nearby, but I still like to get opinions from other writers and English whizzes.

We may have a few disagreements, but that's nothing new. For the most part, discussions -- even empassioned ones -- are nearly always educational.

I hope our moderators look down on us and grant our prayers.

yeah, i really like that idea. :) why not?

Reba, I think a new section or sub-section should add to Creative Writing section. Because it is a relation to this subject, it's more make sense to me.

Mm? Just thought. :)

The sub-section to Creative Writing is a great idea I think!

Do mods ever respond or is this thread like a wish list to Santa? :P

Well, a sub-section isn't necessarily needed.

You could post your story or writing in the "Creative Writing" section and ask people for feedback on grammar, spelling, criticism, etc...

If you just want to show off your story without expecting criticism immediately, you can just post the story and leave it up to open discussion by anyone.

I think a section to ask questions about spelling, punctuation, and grammar is an excellent idea.

Creative writing isn't the only area where someone might have questions or concerns.

However, the heading "new section or sub-section" will almost certainly doom it failure. It should be headed, "Writing Q & A" or "Ask the English experts" or "Writing helps" -- some title telling members what the section is about.

But what if you have a question without a story or writing - just "is this correct" or "what is the word" or "how do you say _______"? Do these belong in Creative Writing section?

:ty:

Yeah, that's what I think too. Mmm..

Perhaps the next step is to have a poll...to see how many are willing to have such a heading or sub-heading added to AD.
