It could be because of the reason that the thread starter did finger point to a member of this forum .. finger pointing is against the forum rules .

In my opinion, if they keep closin' thread, this AD will become obsolete. No motivation or interested to say their pieces as some ADers will depart from this AD to find elsewhere.

Naw, I agree with mods/Alex, their rules are excellent, why do you see many members growing and mostly longtime members in here like me? Closing/locking threads may be for good reason. This AD will be around for years to comes!

Cheers

It should be obvious why threads get locked down.

Oh, yeah I see members are growin' but, I don't see many intelligents members here. They left.

Ok, here's an example I will give you through my own experience. I used to attend " DeafChat " and there were intelligent friends that I know from the past went there until one of the moderators or maybe, 2 got kicked them out for their bad attitudes, or not followed their rules, or misconducted or swearin' bad words and so on. And, when that happened, they don't come back. Right now, the " DeafChat " sucks, because of too many immature and young chatters are goin' there now. Everythin' changed. Where did the intelligent chatters ( mature ones ) go ?

That is what is goin' to happen here, no matter if, the members are growin' or not. You will notice things change, not like before.

I've seen other forum at another website - the members at that site stayed together for a loooong time and they don't leave that site. Most of them are mature.

Cheers back to ya !

True about many of us sometimes lose our cool and say things that came out wrong or as offensive. I know that I am guilty of some of them. It is kinda hard cuz sometimes many of us take each other's POVs in the wrong way. I would hate to see the intelligent members to leave here.

Pardon me, I really kind of take this comment or statement to be quite literally offensive to many members here, it's like stating that so and so group of ppls. are illiterate or dumb(???)....

I know I haven't been around, have a wedding to get ready for, prepare for...from time to time, I'll check here....yet, a comment such as this one is kind of irritating, afterall, we all do need to treat one another fairly and with respect despite their intelligence level!

As for what this thread is concerned with--sometimes a thread will be closed with no mention of the reason for it whatsoever, other times, a thread will have an explanation for the 'closing'.

Peace out y'all--

yeah,Moderating is hard work. I have been a moderator on another deaf forum from my own country. I am responsible for moderating 'hearing aids' sub forum there. It is a volunteer job.I can now guess how hard it is to be a moderator in an 'international' forum ,Alldeaf..Respect goes to both ways ,if we expect respect from mods then we should be fair to them ,as well .

Threads will be closed for reasons, that may be listed or not listed. It's up to the discretion of the moderator closing the thread. Ive closed several threads without giving a reason why.

As for the moderators, we cannot moderate AllDeaf 24/7, with over 10,000 threads currently active or inactive.

I work full-time, often with overtime. I am also in the process of getting ready for an out-of-state wedding, a regional softball tournament, and finalizing plans for an upcoming cruise. In between times, I am trying to get the 2008 AllDeaf Caucus up and running.

RoadRunner has a wedding to plan, three rowdy boys to oversee, and a house to get ready.

Vampyrox is probably stuck in Finals week in college.

Jolie_77 works full time, and cannot go on the computer during the day.

Alex works, also, and has other forums to oversee.

We may not always be able to get back immediately, and there will be times when we will not be able to answer - or not even answer a question here or there.

You are all capable of moderating yourselves - there is no excuse for complaining that there are no moderators available whenever you need them. It's just like police - they're never around when you need them. The police depends on us to stick to the law, and that enables them to go after the serious faction that are the true lawbreakers.

Do you want to be considered a true forum troublemaker? I don't think you want to be - you are all intelligent members, and capable of following the forum rules without complaining.

Think about it.

Both of you.. Thank you for waste my time to read. I made thread about close thread question, not about moderator's job.

I hate why thread closed for no reasons. I spend time to read the rules and nothing to said.

Let me guess. You had no idea what thread I talk about then you closed thread without reasons?

Pardon me? Was it you that stated something about 'resign'?? And also, you're looking at the wrong Mod for that thread being closed. I suggest you PM mods or take it up to Alex via PMland. Maybe then you'll get the answers you're looking for.

My question is why create a thread asking for a reason why that your thread was closed, what's so wrong with using the private message? beside moderators have the right to lock any threads without reason is given, I've known this since I've been a member from 2003.

Oh, please... go and re-read my post again. When I typed intelligent people meanin' MATURE ONES. It doesn't mean that " so and so group of ppls are illiterate or dumb ". Gee - where did YOU get that idea from, huh ? And, who TOLD you that ?

It's not necessary for me to name names who left, it's why I use the word " intelligent ". Okay ?

I couldn't believe you said that. Sooo such misunderstandin'. Yikes !

Yeah, it's why intelligent people left...they lose their motivation or interested in this AD. Hey - remember that I said MATURE ONES ! It doesn't mean that " dumb ones or what ever you think it means ". Okay ?

Peace out y'all--
