Smile Captioned Media Program

If you want to find a movie you want to watch (comedy, classic, adventure, musical, etc.), you can borrow them from Captioned Media Program. This program also have documentaries, movies about different places (Florida, Alaska, Germany, etc.), different kinds of animals, how they made things in factories, and many more in VHS and DVDs.
Here's what you can do to borrow the movies:

1. If you are not a member, you have to fill out an application, and to make up a password (you will get an ID number from them) to go to "My CMP".

2. If you are a member, enter your ID number and password to enter.

3. Either search or browse any catagory you want to borrow.

4. When you select a VHS or DVD to be mailed to your home, click on "Borrow Now" after you click on the title of the movie.

5. You will then receive the movie as indicated by the date you selected after you chose "Borrow Now" in the mail.

6. You need to watch the movie prior the date that you need to return the movie back to Captioned Media Program. There should be a pre-paid sticker for you to put on top of the video cassette holder so you can mail it back in the post office, and a "return card" that should be filled out by you (how many people are deaf/HOH, how many watched it, is the video excellent, good, poor or fair, etc....and your comments on the back) inside the casette holder to them.

Here's the summary from the site:
The CMP provides a free-loan media program of over 4,000 open-captioned titles (videos, CD-ROM, and DVD). Deaf and hard of hearing persons, teachers, parents, and others may borrow materials. There are no rental, registration, or postage fees. Several hundred titles are also streamed on the CMP web site.

If you have a question about an order, you can email them through this site. I had one movie that I have never received that I have ordered, so I emailed them and told them about it. They said it has probably been lost in the mail, so they took care of it, and sent me another tape of the same movie.
I just received this movie today (1933 King Kong) and "The Graduate" through the mail. I am happy I had a fast and helpful reply from them by email.

I love this program....it has helped me a lot understanding what the movies has said in their dialogues. I used to watch "Gone with the Wind" without CC years ago and I missed alot of what they said....I ordered a copy of this movie WITH CC last year or two years ago, and I understood the movie for the first time!
