Why cost too much and no front-camera unlike HTC EVO?

My cousin will plan to buy it. Easy and faster to type physical keyboard of it than Blackberry. It s keyboard is too tiny. She will visit Sprint store to feel comfortable to type two Epic 4G and Epic 4G before ordering one of them on Sprint Relay store online.

Wirelessly posted (Samsung Epix (i907))
The funny thing is that my Samsung phone is called Epix and the new Samsung phone with Sprnt is called Epic, its almost the same spelling The major difference between these phones are they run different OS and a different form factor. |

Does anyone else here think it's not right that anyone can pre-order the epic phone from sprints website, radio shack, etc but not deaf/hoh? I have been in contact with my sprint relay rep and they said that there is no pre-order available for the phone with sprint relay plan. I do not think this is right and have been arguing with my rep about it. EVERYONE can pre-order this phone except those who need the relay plan.
Anyone who wants an Epic should go ahead and contact their rep at the sprint relay store. They have email contacts listed at the sprint relay store page. The Epic is a very hot phone and its possible it may sell out as soon as it hits the stores on August 31st. It is also the perfect replacement for the sidekick now that Microsoft has discontinued it. It has a slide out keyboard It has a LED notification light (the other Galaxy S phones do not) It has a front-facing camera which I'm sure will work with VRS at some point It has a 45nm processor which is a smaller architechure than the EVO's processor meaning it will have better battery life. I have been following this phone for a long time and cannot wait to get my hands on one and find it upsetting I cannot pre-order |

In-depth review just released by engadget with the following quote "and making things even more interesting is the fact that Sprint's first WiMAX handset -- HTC's EVO 4G -- is simply one of the best phones we've ever reviewed. In other words, yeah, you could say that the Epic's got a lot to live up to. Is it up to the task? Let's find out."
Check out the review. Last edited by Raskah; 08-16-2010 at 12:31 AM. |

I do not see any CC in the youtube video?
I have been looking for a video review with CC, all I can find is the old "First Look" video by CNET back when Epic was first announced. It looks like a lot of reviews were released on the Epic last night and they look very good. |

After starting to play. If a video includes captions, you can activate them by clicking the menu button located on the bottom right of the video player. Clicking this button "CC" will also allow you to choose which caption track you want to see. Click "Transcribe Audio" on Caption Actions then click "OK" You can see subtitle on it.

A lot of those also say that is due to the $50 extra for the Epic and the fact they dont like the Touchwiz interface. The interface means very little to me, just root the phone and install a custom ROM to bring back the stock android.
Also, no one can argue the Epic's graphics processor (esp in gaming) beats the EVO hands down. Other than that the EVO and Epic are pretty even. Another huge plus the Epic has over the EVO is tv-out. The EVO has HDMI out but the Epic does also with a special microusb to hdmi cable. The big difference is the EVO is limited to certain applications for TV-out while the Epic can show everything on the phone with the exception of DRM protected content. There is also DLNA streaming. There are some people who are just not ready to give up a physical keyboard for onscreen yet and I am one of them. I'm sure I will use the onscreen for quick replies etc, but when typing out an entire mail the hardware keyboard will be nice to have. Bottom line: Both EVO and Epic are awesome phones so selection comes down to personal preference and how much money one is willing to spend. |

Rooting your phone does not matter anymore as Excedio pointed out. Besides if anything happens and you need warranty service all you have to do is flash the original image back. The only thing I can see truly voiding the warranty is if you brick the phone which is very unlikely with all the recovery images available out there.
