"The Google Phone"

It would be nice if this Google phone comes out soon and is not carrier locked.

I wonder how it will complete with iPhone.

I don't see how this is any different than any other Android phone out there, save that it'll have the latest OS and that it'll not be locked to any particular carrier, if those rumors hold true. So, Android is competing, but I haven't seen it in a form that overtakes the iPhone just yet. Only the apps will tell, and it's in Google's best interest to have all the carriers and phone manufacturers come up with multiple, multiple form factors and features to give customers choice instead of just a single iPhone model.

OLED Screen and the newest Andriod OS that not released yet.

Here a video example of OLED screen -

Google doesn't want the phone under a "Carrier" Google want to sell it outright so people can choose which carrier without contract.

But I wonder if Google are going to put some ads on the phone to offset the cost of the hardware.

Sprint does have Google Android HTC and Samsung phone. I played with Samsung phone with Google Android. It's neat and sexy. I asked salesperson if this phone have Media player. She shrugged and I tried to find it but it's nowhere in the phone. I think it's a download from Google's Android apps. website (Android have thousands of apps) cuz I wanted to use media player to watch movie or video mail.

I want to get touchphone next year (I'm doing away with Blackberry cuz I am getting tired of using shift lock to use number then unlock to use alphabet plus I want to type as fast as I wanted to but can't!!!! I'm used to SK2 keyboard that I can type without looking down. I want to be able to use full keyboard instead of BB's keyboard). I'm having hard time to pick which I want, IPhone, Google Android phones ect. My Sprint contract will be over on July 2010. If I keep Sprint, I would still be able to use Phone As Modem and want 3G or 4G network on new Touchphone IF Sprint still keep same Data plan for deafie (But I am fully aware that they changed from Unlimited to 5GB cap for internet use). I rather take my time to see what's new next year.

Agreed, I am seeing Tmobile, Sprint, and Verizon have Google phone now. I rather to see flexibilty and choice of phone rather than be stuck with one phone that don't work too well with some downloaded apps. For example, I read article about Google Android HTC phone (like HTC Hero) had lag problem if running certain applications. I wanted Android touchphone that have fast processor and enough memory to operate any type of apps without a lags.

What about Verizon's Motorola Driod? Is that a powerful enough phone?

The Andriod phone Hero, Droid, G1 etc is not "Google Phone".

It is phone by HTC at Sprint or Verzion or TMoblie design then added Andriod OS on it but Andriod OS had been control and cut down by Phone Carriers.

Andriod is Google OS yes but not the hardware idea .....

Google phone soon out next year will be both brand new Google Andriod OS and Hardware designed by Google folks trying to make best phone that fit both hardware and OS and called "Google Phone"

Google hope to beat iPhone in both OS and Hardware.

From the articles.

Google is building their own branded phone that they’ll sell directly and through retailers. They were long planning to have the phone be available by the holidays, but it has now slipped to early 2010. The phone will be produced by a major phone manufacturer but will only have Google branding (Microsoft did the same thing with their first Zunes, which were built by Toshiba).

There won’t be any negotiation or compromise over the phone’s design of features – Google is dictating every last piece of it. No splintering of the Android OS that makes some applications unusable. Like the iPhone for Apple, this phone will be Google’s pure vision of what a phone should be.

That is called "The Google Phone" 100% Google's idea and design on hardware by HTC and nothing cut down on Andriod OS too.

Update - It will be called "Nexus One"

Look like it possible that TMobile is going to get the phone first.

Wirelessly posted (SAMSUNG-SGH-I907/UCID1 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11))

I've been wondering if I would like to flash a Google OS rom in this phone because I got bored and lost interest with Windows Mobile. Some people did that with their phones. It might cause some issues that can't be reversed or worse brick the phone.
