TV capture w/ closed captions

I have a Pinnacle PCTV HD Pro Stick tv tuner. I'm looking for software that will let me capture programs with the captions intact. Does anybody know of anything?

I was wondering the same thing but does Pinnacle included CC in their software? Because that would be nice to watch live TV on my computer in dorm at RIT.

About 8 years ago, I know older ATI does support CC from TV card. I have no idea new model still support CC or not.

I doubt that Pinnacle PCTV support CC. Why not you call Pinnacle's customer service for question before you make purchase.

I have Geniatech ATSC HDTV Thriller USB along with software called TotalMedia 3 for Tv tuner with both analog/digital and closed-caption works fine but I hate that white color of text.

This one capture tv program with CC on it.

This one TotalMedia 3 software running, See yellow arrow for click to capture it.

Try trial with TotalMedia 3 to see if works for your tv turner device might be support or not.

if you have Windows XP MCE Edition, Vista Home Premium, Ultimate, Windows 7 Home Premtium, Professional or Ultimate with any TV Tuner drive without software, they will work CC

The white with transparent text is by Windows DirectX not by the TV program. If you turn off video overlay then it should be white with soild black background.

Not all capture card decodes line21 but there is a way to find out. Download ccextractor at CCExtractor home page - A closed caption software decoder

Record a show save to mpeg file then use ccextractor on the mpeg file. It will create another output file to .txt

Look in .txt file if you see Captions then your tuner does decode and save CC in mpeg.

But if you see empty .txt file then card tuner does not decode and save CC or does not save CC in mpeg or not proper standard CC save in mpeg.

Some of the HDTV Tuner may or maybe not save CC in analog standard format in mpeg so you might have to use thier TV program software to watch CC but it won't save it or record it. Only watch it during live show.

I am lost with all the new software coming out! I still not know all I need to know about my computer! I do like to watch old TV shows but they have no CC. Comcast told me if the shows were from the 50's there is no way to have CC on them on. Is this true?
