Hovrs & Sorenson

Hello,

I'm asking for your opinion.

Why is Hovrs (MVP or purple) and Sorenson VP the same? That's what I don't understand.

I'm planning to get MVP but several people says they have problems with MVP like not working or something. So with Sorenson VP, they have no problem so far and it's reliable. Is that true?
And what do u think of Hovrs or Sorenson?.

Several people told me to go for Sorenson.

Peace

It is total up to you.

They are both same as VRS (Video Relay Service) but with the different provider they are offer you and among the Deaf communities.

Sorenson Communications are the first among device for friendly user until SnapVRS that provide OJO and the Viable VRS that provide VPAD+ came into the choice device we want. MVP is late and arriving late. You see the among the Deaf communties may told you to go Sorenson and not HOVRS. The main reason is video quality.

HOVRS offer nice feature but not the great service as Sorenson. Again, Sorenson has friendly user for set e911 or update itself and so on. HOVRS has Video Mail that can appear on MVP instead need the computer while Sorenson require to use computer until later Portable device such as iPhone or Blackberry (4.5 or greater) success to able get signmail.

You see, Sorenson founder set start around 2003 while they providing VP100 and then improve device is VP200 lately. Someone pop up the silly rumor there is VP300! We don't see anything new device from Sorenson yet.

While HOVRS providing MVP and current wait too long as same happen to Sorenson in past.

Again, like I say their video quality not the same as Sorenson offer the best quality video. You may want stick with Sorenson meanwhile you can use their Gold Service that they are offer already that out there people couldn't live without Sorenson. If the MVP got in their way and they upset about that due the setting conflict. Too lecture for me to explain; again...

Sorenson providing the quality service because of their video quality is marvous.

Hope the answer you are looking for and good luck.

Ah, I see. That's what I want to know. Okay, Thank you Zerodog for the whole detail. I'll go for the Sorenson because of the video quality.

At least 2 days for me. It depends where you live.

As for DSL, it depends - go to AT&T.com or Verizon.com and type in your home address, etc. 3.0 or above is recommended.

thought that both videophones provide free router and the DSL varies on what company you want to be with.

2 days? It took me 2 years to wait to get VP200. It been a longgggg time for me to wait when I was living in New Hampshire. Some area who has high population of deaf people, then maybe they would deliver it in few days. Depends on how busy it is.

When I got VP-100 it didn't take long for them to set up and got installer came over. But I was on waiting list for VP-200 for some time maybe a year or so. Once they told me that I am now qualified, and then the installer came over and picked up VP-100 and set up VP-200. Back then some states are on waiting list for VP-200, so I don't know if other people are still on waiting list or not. Some others had to wait much longer for vp-200 which is a hassle.

Yes, Sorenson does, but I don't know about other videophone providers.

You're welcome. Perhaps, you may want to look into cable Internet through Time-Warner/RoadRunner, Comcast or even Charter.

I see, RedWolf. Yes, the manager for the local Sorenson branch sent me E-mail letting me know he was on the way to a city (with a large deaf community) near where I live and thought he could do it that day. It was last-minute and I had plans that day and asked him if we could do another time, he was able to get another installer coming over the next morning.

HOVRS/Purple Communications provides the routers too because they have the special ports installed to save the clients time on them. According to the sources all over AD.

I already called AT&T by thru TTY. DSL modem is on the way to my home next week. Then I'll be contacting sorenson VP.

I forward to see my friends who had VP.

Beside I had OJO in the box which I never use, maybe set up at my BF's place or my sister's place either one but I don't know if that might works.

Anyway, Once again I want to thank you Brian for helping me with details. I appreciate it.

Oh, I have another question...What about 10 digital number? I read it from Sprint Relay News. It ended this week I mean last tues, June 30th. Is it true that once you get your VP or OJO then they will give you 10 digital number? (I'm not sure)
Is that like IP address or something?.

The 10 Digit number system has been extended to 12th November 2009... due to FCC. And no, there is no IP address within the 10 digit number. The 10 digit number is the SAME as the hearing people who have them, called 'Local phone number'

The 10 digit number is a mask over the actual IP number...

I am sure once you get the VP installed, a 10 digit number will be provided...

Just make sure your router is set up and running BEFORE the installer comes...

I called sorenson earlier today, the installer will be contact me by email for schedule.
Yes, they will provide me with a router because I told them that standard modem doesn't have built in router which I didn't know. Standard modem (from AT&T) is on the way to my home next week. I learned something new about router and VP too. This will be my first time with sorenson VP, I'm kinda excited

Well, I dump my OJO for SEXY sorenson VP (Well, I will keep OJO just in case)

Yes, this is fact, since VP is Internet based system, meaning they are required to use TCP/IP in order to function, the IP address you see is actually TCP/IP. Without this, even with 10 digit number it won't work!.

I knew about this and it is correct! The mask over IP addresses but what I have discovered which was interesting. the phone numbers are actually carried with SIP to the company's server's no matter what IP address you have, they will find you regardless.
