So forget about learning the TTY Abbreviations, right? Where can learn more about video phones?

oh really haha. Well I got this first TTY from one of my friends for free back in early 80's. It was really loud when you were typing or receiving messages. Boyeee. I call it as an antique. Also back years ago it was used in newspaper companies.

Sorry, that is the first time I have ever seen a old model in the early 80's. In australia, our old TTY, where it was released for the first time in 1979 was a bit similar to the second TTY you had. (I have the modern one at work atm)

Oh no ... that model wasn't made back in 80's. It wasn't use for TTY for the purpose. It was use in newspaper company for telegrams (couldn't think of a better name) back in 60's, Even before that it was used back in military years ago too. Now someone got the idea to use it as TTY back in 70's and it worked!

Nope, we don't even have these VP -100 either, in australia, we have these Ojo VP's, they're very expensive to purchase and rarely found in stores unfortunately. Deaf people, like us, can't afford it. BUt to be honest here, not one person in Australia has a VP -- well, only a few, not that many.

It really depends on whether a hard-of-hearing knows American Sign Language or not, so if I were you, I won't jump into conclusion that videophones replaces TTYs. If it were for those who are deaf/hard-of-hearing who know sign language and if you forget about the power outage, then yes--videophones will replace TTYs (if only if there's a cellular video phone available that takes the place of power outage).
