alright. now i can give you a unfortunate news for those apple loyalists.

iPhone is not compatible with TAP at this time. i do not know when i will get news.

sorry.

That's because it just came out so I dont think it will be immediatly be compatible with TAP. Probably in coming weeks. I don't see why not being compatible since it's a data dependent phone.

oh.. that's sucks. I have know someone already brought and await for get TAP plan. eek.

Yeah but they will offer one somehow but no specific date so try back in few months and see what happens.

I wondered about TAP and iPhone myself becasue from what I learn iPhone can only be activated online via iTune only.

So I don't know how they are going to change an plan that is controlled by iTune to a TAP plan unless they add TAP plan into iTune activation system.

The plan is AT&T's plan. when one activate iPhone in iTunes, it is being sent to AT&T and you get email from AT&T and you pay iPhone bill to AT&T. one only pay $ to Apple for iPhone itself.

So like any other cell phone with TAP, you call them after you activate it.

according to deafmac.org It's not ready.

That's why I said in my previous post to try back in next few months to see if they have cooked up one then..

They don't "have to" offer the AT&T Wireless TAP program with any phone. After all, they don't offer it today with Blackberry phones, and they don't offer it on all phones, just like there are only certain phones where you can get the Sprint $29.99 data only plan.

I agree with Boult. Check back a few months and see-see if iPhone carries TAP.

If someone posted a legit link to a Sprint's TAP page, then T-Mobile might offer TAP as well for Blackberrys. I called T-Mobile and *almost* got the TAP for Blackberry 8700g. While they already saw AT&T's, they just needed to see Sprint's TAP online and they'll be convinced to give me a modified plan under T-Mobile. Also, if more Deaf customers call T-Mobile and ask for TAP, showing them both AT&T and Sprint TAP URLs, then T-Mobile will be pressured and convinced to honor the same deal. T-Mobile asked me why not get Sidekick3 or ID, I told them more Deaf people are on Blackberrys than Sidekick3s. They asked me why, and I told them because of various problems with Sidekick3s made it not worth buying, so Blackberry was the best option.

T-Mobile already has the data-only plans for Blackberry and Sidekick at $29.99. That's the same price as Sprint's $29.99 plan, and AT&T's TAP $29.99 plan. You're not going to get a better deal from T-Mobile. You can get the blackberry 8700g with a $29.99 plan from T-Mobile. You're just not going to get the phone for any less than $199.99. And you'd be getting T-Mobile's coverage, which everyone knows is the least coverage out there.

Why do you want to stay with T-Mobile when other, faster, better networks are out there? What's your reason for staying loyal when they don't have a TAP plan?

Tmobile don't require TAP plan for SK3 or Blackberry, unless it's from Wings or high-end cell phones since SK3 or Blackberry are give us a option to add voice plan, that's expensive than data only. I got good deal at Tmobile after got huge rebate and discount with one year contract.

For $29.95 a month, T-Mobile does not have a good TAP deal. AT&T offer 5,000 text messages a month when T-Mobile does not. I called them and T-Mobile informed me that TAP deal is only for Sidekicks, not for Blackberrys. If I wanted the same unlimited data and text messages they have on Sidekicks for Blackberrys, I have to pay approx $45 a month! So, no - T-Mobile does not have a real TAP deal for Blackberrys.

P.S. Thanks for the Sprint link!

FYI, text messaging is unlimited on my plan, though, it's $30 per monthly.

Sprint and Verizon does offers TAP too.

I guess it was easier to say "TAP" for all carriers but TAP is actually AT&T's plan and the other two have thier own plan names and Tmobile does not have a plan for deaf commuities unless I missed it somewhere, please correct me if Tmobile do have deaf plan.

So for others not to get confused which plan belong to which carriers here it is.

AT&T - TAP - Text Accessibility Plan

Verizon - VWAP - Verizon Wireless Accessibility Plan

Sprint - SRWDP - Sprint Relay Wireless Data Plan

Tmoblie - None (unless they just recently added a plan for the deaf that I am not aware of correct me on this if they do)

None of those plans can be added via store or carrier online order/shopping carts. They must be applied at the certain carrier dept or forms etc so you will need to search on this website for the contact information since it been posted several times.

Tmobile does have good "TAP" plan. it's $29.99 a month for unlimit data plans on Blackberry (unlimit Email, Unlimit Internet, Unlimit Data (like AIM), 300 Text) If you don't plan to use text that often then it's worth it. I personally don't use text much tho.. I've spoken w/ Tmobile's Blackberry Department. They told me of plan. It's pretty much similiar to Sidekick except Text. All you have to do is to tell them you are deaf and need just a Data Only plan. They'll work out with you. I am a Tmobile Customer for 4 years and never had plm w/ it. I told them I'm going for BB Curve once it come out. That's where I learned of plan. The Represative himself is excited to own one too LOL.

Maybe YOU should call Tmobile Reprensative and Ask them to transfer you to Blackberry Dept. Then talk to them that you want DATA only plan cuz you're deaf and you currently have Blackberry. See if you can ask them to change it to $29.99 a month w/o voice plan. If you don't like their 300 text, then it'll be $5 or $10 extra for Unlimit Text which bring up to $35 to $40 a month which makes sense... Don't curse or swear at Represative! They'll go offensive.. (happens to couple of my friends who made a stupid move)

Sprint have good plan too. Like what Dennis told you. Sprint Relay Support Center is where you can get $29.99 for Data only plan on Blackberry, Treo, and HSP. BUT for example, IF you got Blackberry Curve which is coming out soon. ASK Sprint if they will setup $29.99 for deaf. Contact Sprintrelaysupport for info before you jump in for one.

As for iPhone under ATT, just wait few months because there are alot of excitements going on this month. Personally, it'll be around $40 a month for TAP. I'd rather wait until Sprint, Tmobile, and Verizon get iPhone.. I would find out how much they offer.

don't shoot the messager before you ask!

Tmobile already had the plan 4 years ago when first Sidekick came out. All you have to do is to tell them you are deaf and want to use Data only plan. They happily work out with you.

It's a contrast to ATT Reprensative which are not friendly. I told the customer svc over the phone and ask about TAP. They never heard of it and I had "mudslinging" with ATT Reprensative. Until I learnd there is a phone number for TAP that you provided in other posting. Actually, ATT should have transfer me to TAP dept instead of going offensive with me which is a friendly way to work out. So I rated Tmobile the best customer service cuz Tmobile Reprensative immedialy know that you are deaf cuz you're using relay or VRS either way (Sidekicks are very popular among deaf population so that's why they're used to deafie)..

Verizon.. I would LOVE to have a phone number for VWAP plan!! I want to know how much they offer for deafie.. They better have BB plan for deafie.. One of my friend is asking me about Verizon.

The iPhone is exclusive to AT&T for 5 years. Don't hold your breath waiting for any other US carrier to get it. Vodaphone is expected to get the iPhone internationally.
