Hi guys.
Recently I visited my audiologist for some new hearing aids. They sound much better than my previous pair but I'm left with a problem.
My left aid whistles uncontrollably.
When my audiology guy was fitting my aids, he had a small tube of cream that he likened to denture cream which made the aids a better fit.
Does anyone know what this product might be called and where I can find some in the UK?

I've tried to Google it but I'm not completely sure what my search should be.

Many thanks.

I'm unfamiliar with using creams for HAs. Wouldn't that cause a wet and sticky feel? If you are getting excessive feedback, my thoughts are 1) your aid is turned up too high, or 2) you have poor-fitting earmolds. Ask your audiologist to re-make it. How old is the earmold?

Yeah that could lead to an infection in the OP ear if it's wet all the time. It sound like the ear mold is too small and the audi used some a cheap method to fix the problem . The cream was used to made the ear mold fix better and keep the HA from feed backing.

http://www.hearinghaven.com/articles/whistling-hearing-aid-stop-embarrassment/ I found this web site about to stop HA from feed backing ,

Otoferm Cream Here's a link to what he was talking about.

Wouldn't it be best to have a new ear mold made?

Of course, and that is what I would do.

However, I thought he might like the literal answer to his question also.

Not sure how it works on the NHS, but I wonder if he can't get a new one until they say so.

I think it's great you find the cream , you're good at finding things on line. I was just wondering about getting a new mold. Maybe it is the insurance company the decide when you can get new ear mold ? Anyway good job on finding the cream.

Yes, brilliant job there. Thanks a lot.
The ear mild is brand new, only had them a couple of weeks. The thing is, I waiting 3 months to get them and the thought of waiting another 3 months for a new mood is not a pleasant one. Obviously, I should make another appointment but with the cream acting as a quick fix.
The audiologist used the cream while symaltaniously having fed small tubes into my ears for programming purposes. The aids didn't feed back all that day but as soon as I wiped the cream off, that was it!

Thanks to everyone who replied to my question. You're all stars.

You need to go back and have him make new earmolds. He must of new he had a problem when he had to use Otoferm cream during the programming of the new HA's.
