Hey all!

I'm a student at the University of Oklahoma and am working with a team of engineering undergraduates on a clean-sheet project that will produce a device to benefit a population in our state.

One group of people that we're interested in helping right now is the deaf, and I wanted to get some community feedback on some ideas that we've been developing.

To that end, we've developed a brief market survey to get an idea of what direction our product should take. I was wondering if y'all would be willing to take it - it'll take about fifteen minutes and is completely anonymous. We'd love to see what you think the needs of the deaf community are!

If you have any questions for me directly, just shoot me an email at my OU address: daniel.meschter@ou.edu

There are, and have been plenty of Visual and Tactile signalling systems on the market - and have been for more than 40 years.

I looked at the first few questions and it's all the typical "oh my gosh, how do you function" stuff hearing people always ask when they haven't done any research first.

does it pay? :P

Frisky, we're university students.

In all honesty, while we'd love to do market research with all the resources of a professional marketing firm, we've already allocated our budget towards prototyping purposes.

Anyway, :2c: are hard to come by in a monetary sense, but we'd love it if you could help us out.

Look at it this way: you're helping us create a product that maximally impacts the Deaf.

Yeah, but they've either been expensive (all our research so far has indicated low price range of $80-$100) and primarily home-based. We're envisioning something eminently portable that sells for $20.

On the other hand, if you know of cheap feedback systems, let us know! It'll help us get us a better understanding of the market we're entering.

I haven't look at the questions but I don't use any devices. I only use hearing aid nothing else. I don't bother to buy the light flashes at the door or anything at all. I don't bother to add the light flashes for phone. Everyone uses tablet, laptop or phone that works great for me.

only thing that I have one light flashes for alarm if it were fire or smoke.
