Rooted HTC EVO 4g question
Just today, I decide to hack my Evo cuz my contract was past over. I was wanting HDMI mirroring so I can watch Netflix on Tv via Evo. I bought HDMI cable for Evo to Tv. It only works photo slideshow or video show on hdmi, not ohers on unrooted Evo. I downloaded HDMIwin from Market. It requires root so I decide to root unlock fastboot and root the phone. i successfully getting it done. It did wipe internal memory that I had apps installed. What the heck so I just go ahead and reinstall apps and hdmiwin. Finally it installed and works ! But it wont mirrors from Evo to Tv.
What do you suggest about getting it mirrored. Catty (typed from rooted Evo) |

I just found out that I have to flash custom ROM to allow mirroring on HTC EVO 4g.. I decide not to bother with it because they mentioned that there are few bugs in custom ROM regarding sound and video. But my EVO did play Youtube with no issue. So If I convert DVD movies to smaller format to fit for phone, I won't have problem watching it on TV from my Evo. I thought it is cool and also I did finally installed Google's WiFi Tether app on my phone so It became free MiFi. It works nice when tested on my laptop tethering to EVO wirelessly. I don't have to pay $28 to use Sprint's Hotspot app. It took me a few struggle until I checkmark "Routing Fix" in settings and finally got it working cuz originally my laptop showed limited internet connection. I know it is connecting but not internet so "Routing Fix" did fix the problem and became full internet usage and also I set Wifi Encryption to secure my MiFi only to my own use. I checked its isp speed. It was a bit fast enough for my VP connection. Impressive! now that I don't have to tether my phone via USB!! I'm happy
I also downloaded and installed app that requires rooted phone. I told my friend that I rooted my phone and had mifi ect. He drooled at me and begged me to hack his Verizon Thunder phone so he can have mifi connection. He told me that he don't care if i bricked his phone or screw it up. Simply is that he must have it for camping ect. Catty |

Try FoxFi for making a hotspot. You won't have to root.
No advice for mirroring the Evo but I am giving you thumbs up on all your progress, wishing you much luck and I will be watching this thread to see if you figure it out. You're doing great! |
