I gotta empathize with that deaf woman who said My house , Why? Why? Why? I'd be mad too if I were her.

If it didn't happen to you, you can only sympathize, not empathize. But yeah, they had rotten luck.

I've only seen very small wind funnels and some water spouts....never been thru a Tornado! But watched the "Tornado Chasers" on TV....I do recall, once being outside, and could feel the wind suddenly shifting from the left to the right....I went inside the house immediately....We've gotten many Tornado "watches" here in Florida, but none did any damage/or were a disaster to Jacksonville that I know of.

Well, I've never had a tornado wreck my home but I did have a fire wreck my apt many years ago. Fortunately, I wasn't at my apt. I remember leaving it and then when I drove back, I could see tons of fire trucks near my apt and there was heavy water damage and smoke damage from my apt and it was a wreck. I was unable to live in it because the damage was so bad.

The lady above my apt lost all of her furniture when the fire burned up the roof above her.

My apt was struck by lighnting and it caused half a million in damages. I think it took 3 monthes to repair the roof. I had to find another apt to live in.

So yes, I can empathize with her even though I've never been hit by a tornado.

I didn't mean to offend you. Yes, you can indeed empathize with her. I've also been through a couple fires, once in an apartment and another in a house. I was fool enough to run back into the house to retrieve my hearing aid and almost lost my life. Dang.

I've never seen one but I have heard one once. I think it was a very small tornado. I was in the bath tub and the hail was very heavy when I looked out the window near the bath tub. Then I heard something that sounded like a train. Keep in mind that I can hear only very loud noises without my HA. I was like WTF? The nearest railroad is a mile away and then I said to myself oh no, I hope that's not what I think this is.

I ran for the basement and as I was going down the stairs, the train sound stopped and things calmed down a bit. There was no damage to my home but several porches in the neighborhood were destroyed. People described it as a mini tornado.
