Police: Deaf woman assaulted with mug | woman, police, deaf - Local News - The Star Online : The Newspaper of Cleveland County
Reports indicate a 44-year-old woman assaulted her deaf roommate Sunday morning.
Shelby Police responded that day to the 700 block of South Dekalb Street, finding a 30-year-old woman outside. Two cuts stretched across her forehead.
“Once I began to talk to (the victim), I found she was deaf,” read a report by Officer R.D. Bowen. “There was an un-known … woman who could interpret what she was saying … ”
Authorities were told that the victim was assaulted. The victim and accused share the same home address, accord-ing to the report.
The interpreter asked the accused woman if she did, in fact, hit the victim.
“ … she stated yes, that they had been arguing and she threw a mug at her that hit her in her head,” the report states.
Police took photos as evidence.
