Mass. woman due in Conn. court on extortion charge
Mass. woman due in Conn. court on extortion charge - Courant.com
A Massachusetts woman accused of extorting nearly $10,000 from her disabled co-worker is due in Hartford Superior Court on Thursday. West Hartford police say Kathryn Arcana of Bellingham was charged by warrant with larceny on July 24 for using threatening e-mails to scare 29-year-old Paul Brockman of Cromwell into giving her money. Brockman, whom police said has hearing and learning disabilities, worked with the 40-year-old Arcana at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford. Police say Arcana told Brockman that police, and even Gov. M. Jodi Rell, would arrest him if he did not pay her. Police say Brockman told his sister about Arcana's demands, and his sister later told authorities. A listing for Arcana was not in service, and she could not be reached for comment Saturday. |
