Water fun for young deaf people

icseftonandwestlancs - Water fun for young deaf people

YOUNG deaf people will have the chance to take part in a range of watersports on the River Mersey.

The National Deaf Children’s Society has organised a free event for eight to 16-year-olds on Sunday, May 25, with sailing, kayaking and windsurfing.

All activities will be led by Merseysports’ experienced instructors and equipment will be provided including wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets.

There will be full communication support, and NDCS staff and volunteers will also be on hand to help out.

ŠHayley Brown, NDCS sports and leisure activities manager, said: “This sort of event is all about developing confidence and social skills, as well as sailing skills and having fun in the water.

“The children will have full communication support, which they may not usually have access to, and will have the chance to meet other deaf children with common interests.”

For more information on this and other events contact the team by phone on 0121 234 9820, or e-mail events@ndcs.org.uk

Even though I know what you're referring to, I still laugh whenever I see people use the word... "watersports".

Don't blame me. I easily remember it cuz I helped a friend with his paper on water sports.

Before I came to his house, he decided to do some quick research. The first URL he typed in was watersports dot com. What showed up scared the hell out of him. When I came over, he told me and I laughed. I haven't forgotten it since.
