Comedian Lisa Lampanelli, the self proclaimed "Lovable Queen of Mean," was boycotted by deaf people in New York after she joked about their disability. "I had said that deaf people aren't really deaf, they are just retarded and trying to upgrade themselves," says Lampanelli. "All of a sudden, they are protesting. I'm like, are you kidding me? If you can't see that's a joke, you are not just deaf, you are blind." One of the protestors gave her show at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y., a chance and actually liked it, The New York Post reported Sunday.

"At the end (at RIT), some guy came in, signing, and he says, 'I was one of the protestors and I gave your show a chance, and you are really good.' But I was really sad that day, because I got love for everybody," she said. "I act like I don't give a (expletive deleted), but I care. I'm 45 years old and I believe in karma. I'm gonna care if people get it."

One of the guys who protested was interviewed by the news. He said two contradicting comments... "She has no right to say that." and "I believe in freedom of speech." :roll:

Just let that old fart woman laughing, she have freedom of speak. Those deafies can whining, as they have freedom of speak. FAIR!

Insults as humor are just so fucking DUMB! Lampenelii is just a flash in the pan humorist..NOBODY is going to know who she is in five years.

I don't even find Lisa Lampanelli's humor any funny at all. Not because that I'm deaf, it just nothing she says made me laugh.

Yep, exactly!

It's like I said before, she probably did what she did for attention.

That's how they advertise... one of their marketing secrets. They do something outrageous and insulting that it grabs everyone's attention.... enough to make them want to see more.

There's a car accident on the other side of the highway and accidents are not funny. Yet, people on this highway slow down to get nosey and see what happened.

There's a protest (against a movie) going on in front of a movie theater. People drive by and see the protest. They'll be compelled to go see that movie.

In this stand-up, she didn't insult only deaf, but others as well. She insulted a short, black, deaf, gay guy. Although he wasn't really gay, he probably dressed like one (a metrosexual). She insulted a wheelchair guy as well.
