The Grand Mosque started translating the Friday sermons into the sign language for the deaf in the first step of its kind in the country, a Kuwaiti official said. Assistant Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Undersecretary for cultural affairs Waleed Al-Fathil told KUNA that the translation of the Friday sermons for the deaf, that started last Friday, is conducted in cooperation with the Kuwait Club for Deaf. He added that he met with the director of the Grand Mosque Abdullah Al-Shaheen and expressed to him the ministry's desire to provide more services and programs and to organize contests for the hearing-impaired. Al-Fathil emphasized that the Awqaf and Islamic Affairs ministry has a strategic plan to serve of all members of the society, stressing that the new step received praise from the ministry's officials. |
