19 Deaf Teens Missing In Forest
http://www.koin.com/news.asp?RECORD_...5Bnews%5D=5544
A group of deaf teenagers are missing and presumed lost in the Santiam State Forest south of Mill City. The Linn County Sheriff's Office says the 19 were on a five-day survival training trip in the Rock Creek area. They were reported overdue about 8:40 p.m. Monday after one of the leaders walked out and called for help. The leaders said the teens, high school juniors and seniors, are well equipped with shelters, clothes, sleeping bags, water and food for five days. Three adults, including a nurse, are reportedly with the group. The sheriff's office says everyone on the trip is deaf and can only sign. Deputies and 30 members of the Linn County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Post responded late Monday and searched throughout the night and early morning. The effort resumed Tuesday morning with the help of an Oregon Army National Guard helicopter. The remote area is rough and steep.

I'm glad those group are back safely to the civilization and to their families. It had to be an experience being lost in the forest and that's something they won't forget to share a story about in the future.
