Here new article about a teacher that accidentally dialed her phone in her pocket which called to a voice mail that belonged to one of the Deaf student's mother.

Teacher was expressing herself how she felt about Deaf children in public school but did not know her phone was connected to a voice mail which recorded her whole thoughts and feeling.

no complaints in 15 years, because she was never caught til now...right?

Very possible ^^^ BUT remember Being teacher is the most tough job. I often am told by people who wants to becme teachers and end up disciple kids more than focusing on their education. :( I used to think about becoming a teacher but i decided not to. I knew myself that i have no patience. :(

Can't seem to keep from asking. What did you do instead?

There is no excuse for threaten to kill a student no matter bad that kid has acted! I am shocked that teacher was not fired on the spot with all the talk about people acting out their anger with a gun. If that was my child she would never go back to that school .

Do I feel the teacher "actually" would strangle the student?....No...it was just a figure of speech, due to frustration, even being tired....She apolized to the Mother....It's human nature to feel frustrated at times and spew out remarks that we wish we could take back!....And this Teacher is an example, along with many other people....

And I, also...would never be a Teacher....having 20-30 students in my classroom. No wonder they get "burned out" quickly! It's tedious....and Teachers are not paid accordingly to what they have to do.

In light of what been happening in schools today , I am surprise this was not taken more serious . If a student had said this I bet they had been kick out of school and been send to have a mental health evaluation .

Nah...kids label and call their teachers "mo'fo's"...and all that crap....Their language these days...isn't pretty.

Yes. I am working hard to make sure my kids to not to say that stuff to teachers. I know my kids that they would say those stuff since they are teen and almost a teen.

It's messed up she gets PAID leave! So basically she gets a paid vacation! That's some freaking crap right there!

on the other side..... hmmmmm....

In the message, special education teacher Mimi Klane can also be heard wondering why some students are attending public schools.
In the March 11 message, Klane can be heard saying: “I had to be here because otherwise I might strangle a student….These children should not be in school. This is public school, for God’s sake.”
perhaps Mimi wanted some students to be in a school best equipped to deal with them?

The school had insisted Jasmine wear an FM receiver that amplifies sound. Every morning her teacher would attach the small receiver to the back of Jasmine’s cochlear implants.

Two days in a row, once in recess and the other in gym, the receiver fell off. When it broke, Klane called Bree saying her daughter had done it on purpose.
this has always bothered me about a school requiring a deaf student to wear CI/HA/FM. a school should not be requiring anything.

As soon as Bree reported the incident, the teacher was put on paid administrative leave. Bree kept Jasmine out of school for more than a month until Fernbrook agreed that Jasmine would not have to wear the FM receiver and that Jasmine would never be alone with any teacher.
agreed that Jasmine would not have to wear FM? then isn't that what the teacher wanted?

I agree with Mew. I don't think she needs paid leave. I can understand getting emotionally involved with a job but talking about students outside of school to anyone is inappropriate - unless it is a matter of concern that needs to be reported.

Plus they shouldn't be lumping the deaf student in with special education students if the child has no actual learning disabilities. I'm not really familiar with deaf education but if the only issue is the child's hearing and if child is doing fine...then the teacher needs to quit venting because the child is being a typical six year old. I can understand getting frustrated with her students (that is why I'll never be a teacher) but that would make it hard on the six year old to want to go back to school.

I was an evil six year old. I always tested the limits with my teachers to see what I could get away with. This girl could be doing the same thing but the teacher then needs to understand what she must do. If it was that bad she could set up a parent-teacher conference with the parents or whoever.

Interesting...many of u aren't teachers and you say how teachers should or shouldn't do this or that. The teacher was wrong to say stuff like that and i don't condone it. The job is so tough..nobody understands unless they are teachers themselves. Nobody but teachers just have no idea.

Anyways....the child belongs in a deaf ed program where teachers have the training to work with deaf students. That's one big reason I am not crazy about mainstreaming deaf kids with teachers who aren't trained to work with them.

Special Education is different than Deaf Education. There would be teachers who were suppose to teach deaf students to use FM or special device for sound so that they were suppose to listen or hear what the teachers said when conducting in the classroom. I was in that FM when I was in the Special Education. Also every one of us had to read lips which was not easy on lipreading. Most often hearing teachers would expect them to hear them like listening, but that does not work out well at all. So with CI just like hearing aids, it is the way to make them listen. Some deaf or hard of hearing students can manage to pick up some words or some sentences to make out what the teachers were saying. I never liked being in a Special Education program with no ASL for us to understand in the classrooms.

I agree with Shel90 that being a teacher is not a easy job but I agree that she should have done a teacher-parents conference or meeting to discuss about why their daughter should not be in the public school if not mainstream. If their daughter is put in a hearing public school only, no deaf children in the hearing public school which she should be in the mainstream school or Deaf school.

For me, I personally would rather be in the Deaf school because I had trouble trying to understand the teachers in the hearing classrooms. No Special Education after 9th grade.

So for a young deaf girl in the public school, the teacher is saying that she had tried to work with the deaf girl, even she had been teaching in the Special Education program for 15 years. You have to remember many deaf children including me want to please our parents and will only obey what the parents said. That would be years later like in high school, she will reject her parents when they do not listen to the child's needs for communication accommodations. :(

I do not buy this "The job is so tough. .nobody understands unless they are teachers themselves. Nobody but teachers just have no idea. " Any job can be tough and you have to be able to control your emotions on your job . If everyone went around at work expressing what they really felt about their boss or a co worker there would a lot fights going on.
