You've got a friend - By Carol King

When youre down and troubled
And you need a helping hand
And nothing, whoa nothing is going right.
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest nights.

You just call out my name,
And you know whereever I am
Ill come running, oh yeah baby
To see you again.
Winter, spring, summer, or fall,
All you have to do is call
And Ill be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Youve got a friend.

If the sky above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old north wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together and call my name out loud
And soon I will be knocking upon your door.
You just call out my name and you know where ever I am
Ill come running to see you again.
Winter, spring, summer or fall
All you got to do is call
And Ill be there, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Hey, aint it good to know that youve got a friend?
People can be so cold.
Theyll hurt you and desert you.
Well theyll take your soul if you let them.
Oh yeah, but dont you let them.

You just call out my name and you know wherever I am
Ill come running to see you again.
Oh babe, dont you know that,
Winter spring summer or fall,
Hey now, all youve got to do is call.
Lord, Ill be there, yes I will.
Youve got a friend.
Youve got a friend.
Aint it good to know youve got a friend.
Aint it good to know youve got a friend.
Youve got a friend.

YouTube - Firehouse - All She Wrote

Great bass performance in the song. (Best heard with subwoofers that can handle at least 60hz)

Mrs. Bucket,

Yes -- when it comes to great music, I think those decades are the best!

Good choices, society's child!

I *love* the songs that are bolded! (especially "Let Your Love Flow" by the Bellamy Brothers)

By the way, did you know that the original name of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils was "Cosmic Corncob and His Amazing Ozark Mountain Daredevils?" A local radio DJ told me that when I called in to request "Jackie Blue" one night. )

As for Fleetwood Mac, I love their "Rumours" album from 1977!

THAT was their original name?? Geez louise, glad they changed it.

Yeah, I believe "Rumours" was one of the best albums of the 70's. It's definitely stood the test of time.

No kidding!

Makes one wonder if the Ozark Mountain Daredevils were high or drunk on something when they came up with their original name!

I like most of the ELO's song and some of Chicago's song like 'If You Leave Me Now', 'Saturday In the Park' and 'Hard to Say I'm Sorry'. Oh yes I am a big fan of Fleetwood Mac. I have their 'Rumours' album and play it sometimes. That song 'Let Your Love Flow' I like that too. Some of David Bowie song are ok too. The rest of it, I don't think I have heard them or I may have but not know the name of song.

Yes the classic 70's rock are the best! I got a huge collection of the 70's music CDs here. Great memories during the 70's era and it is the BEST!

Oh yes I got that one too. Starting out on a record, cassette tape and now CD. Great album! Also I like their Dance '97 tour on youtube which I have kept in my Bookmarks. Here is one of their song, 'Go Your Own Way' and I like the live version of it.

"Go Your Own Way" happens to be my favorite Fleetwood Mac song!

The thing I love about Fleetwood Mac is how their songs bring back memories of my childhood. I was only 6 or 7 at the time "Rumours" was released, but I remember hearing all of their songs being played on the radio over and over again. I used to have "Rumours" on 8-track. (Remember those? )

Another *great* album you should check out is Supertramp's "Breakfast in America" which was released in 1979.

I love ELO. One of my favorite songs by them is "Rock and Roll is King." I also like the soundtrack from "Xanadu" which contains several of their songs.

As for Chicago's "If You Leave Me Now," that song (which I love -- I love all kinds of music, can't you tell? ) brings back memories of when I was 5 or 6 years old. I used to hear that song being played on the radio all the time -- especially during the summer of 1976.

Speaking of 70s music, what do you think of the Bay City Rollers? One of my favorite songs by them is "Saturday Night."

Oh yes I do remember the Bay City Rollers. I was in the mid teen and wasn't a big fan of them but I do like some of their songs like 'Give a Little Love' and 'Rock n Roll Love Letter'. During that time, I was fans of Slade, Suzi Quatro and Kiss when they started out. I like the disco to heavy rock. Now that I am older, those has become classic rock of the 70's.

I also liked Slade and Suzi Quatro (I especially like her song "Stumblin' In").

As for Kiss, my sister used to be a huge fan of theirs and used to attend all of their concerts. I remember her telling me they wore makeup all over their faces and as a small child, that scared me a bit.

I was a child of the 70s, a teen of the 80s and 80s music is already considered "classic." Makes me feel old. Oh well. I knew it would happen someday.

Yeah, although a lot of it may be grammatically incorrect, lol. I try my best to make it as ASL as possible. I've learned to sign a lot of other songs too. I've even got a separate playlist on my iPod for them. Some of them are:

We can work it out, Let it be- The Beatles
Lean on me- Bill Withers
Dancing Queen- ABBA
A lover's concerto- The Toys
Disappointed- Morissey
More than words- Extreme
Let's work together- Canned Heat
Baby now that I found you- The Foundations
Killing me softly with his song- Roberta Flack
Cruel to be kind- Nick Lowe

Oh wow, society's child. Some of the songs you mentioned that I'd love to have someone sign to me in ASL are "Dancing Queen" (I love that song!), "More Than Words" (I love this song too!), "Killing Me Softly with His Song" and "Cruel to Be Kind." (I...do I even have to say it? ).

I'll never forget the time when I attended my first AADB (American Association of the Deaf-Blind) convention when my tactile terp and I went to a bar one night. They were playing country music, so she started signing all of the songs to me in ASL while I had one hand placed on the stereo speaker so I could feel the vibrations. It was an *awesome* experience because her signing allowed me to fully understand the flow and rhythm of each song.

After I came home from the convention and played my music using direct audio input (DAI) through my hearing aids, I started crying because all I could hear was percussion and some male vocals depending on how much they overlapped instruments and keyboards.

During the entire time I've used sign, I've never had anyone do something like that for me. It was one of the neatest experiences I've ever had.

That sounds like an amazing, experience, Hear Again! Wow, the interpreter must have been really skilled to convey the feeling and emotion in every song.

" HOW FAR WILL YOU GO? " By Kip Winger

First season alone
Drinking dirty water
Forced out of her home
No rich man's daughter
Now she braves the cold
But fears the loneliness
I don't blame her

And I know this means nothing to ya
And I know this don't belong to ya
Ain't there anything left inside us?

How far will we go
To send them all to heaven

Daddy's digging for gold
But the alley ain't feedin'
Three kids of his own
His job said they didn't need him

Don't these people mean nothing to ya
Don't these people still belong to ya
Ain't there anything left inside us?

How far will we go
To send them all to heaven

Don't you know we could live together
Don't you know we could give together
Ain't there anything left inside your heart?
Don't these people still belong to ya
How far will we go
Ain't there anything left inside my heart?
