Hey...

NDPT is coming to Gary, IN to host a Deaf Texas Hold 'EM Tournament for midwest regional tournament on June 7 in Gary, Indiana!

Click here for the flyer (more information).

I can imagine the players would come from various states - Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Missouri, Iowa and many more.

I'm excited!

There is another one in Des Moines, Iowa, on the SAME DAY (probably not NDPT though.) I don't know a website link for it otherwise I'd post it. But I heard it is a $35 buy-in. I am considering going to that one.

Hmm, in case you didn't know...

National Deaf Poker Tour is not like you can join and play at the deaf club or someone's garage or basement.

It's a big organization that run the tournament at real casinos and the cards deal by the professional dealers like you see it on TV. NDPT gives you chances to win the standings to join WSOP (World Series of Poker) or WPT (World Poker Tour). They usually do that in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Now, they are hoping to find one casino in Midwest. They are giving Majestic Star Casino a try and the Midwest players will need to prove them that they will need to do that annually.

Here is an old article on ESPN website about NDPT.

Also... ESPN even showed a short video of one NDPT tournament on TV! Here is the link to watch the clip.

NDPT will host FOUR tournaments in Las Vegas at Venetian on the weekend of July 26th, 2008.

I'm very proud that NDPT is doing as well as they have been. I only wish that for the Midwest, they had picked someplace other than Gary, Indiana, for the Midwest location. I'm assuming their choice was because of it's proximity to Chicago. But I live in Minneapolis, MN, and there is a LARGE deaf community here, and MANY poker players, myself included. The drive is a little more (about 8 hours) to Gary than many of us want, so many of us aren't going .. I suppose those from Chicago would say the same about having to come here, though if that were the case.

Good question... suppose NDPT and Majestic Star Casino agree to have 2 tournaments on one weekend, would you and other MSP players decide to come?

Another question: why not rent a van or something?

Cool..

Anyone going to deafpoker... New Jeresy in November 2008 :) Me maybe going :D

There is a group of people (not including me) that are renting a van and going. It's full so the rest of us are not! :) I suppose we could rent a 2nd van, but a bunch of us aren't as interested for the very question you asked -- there's only 1 tournament that day and if they did have 2+ tourneys, I think more of us would go. I'm sure NDPT will improve this after some feedback after the tourney's over, so next time they're in the Midwest we'll see what they offer and where.

That's great about one van from Minnesota is coming. I hope I will see at least one van from each Midwest states. It'd be a Deaf "All-Star" Texas Hold 'Em Tournament of the Midwest. I hope you and rest of you would change your mind about coming. :D

About the next time at Majestic Star... yep, that's right. If a good number of players show up this time, Majestic Star will consider to let NDPT host another one in the fall or sometime soon and maybe even 2 or 3 tournaments in one weekend. Right now, we need to prove them on June 7th.

Hope see you there then.
