I want you think for a moment about how it is positive at Gallaudet if you feel that people would have be nice to us or everybody in the manner of conservation? Like you walk around your friends at hallway in Student Academic Center, sitting together with friends at marketplace or see each other in computer lab?
I know often some former or graduate from Gallaudet always about their dislike or disappointed at Gallaudet, it always be problem that lead to risk of consquence by MSCHE but now much better this year. Sad, few friends of mine who told me about several people who work at YLC or Viable, it seems like well-known people, such as members of deaf family or something special. They straight with me that they do not like them who is well-known people and be careful who I trust people if they would nice to me or not. I agree of this, same as my experience make me suffer but it is important for my own is better mind out of people who wants me know person I heard. I would not accept some people who tried to be well-known people tell us they're great student but they're not, they is not nice to other people who is not well-known or popular. I always want them to be honest themselves, try to be nice same as their friends try encourage them to be friendly. But some of their friends do not, because they do not think twice in the way. I am really respect anybody who wants to be friend with me because I keep faith myself know how to nice people such as giving or helping all the time. From my years, I would not accept few girls who wants belong to, because they do not meet their character way, but it is very hard to find better women who would belong to. I keep argue with some girls when candidate for pick girls, it seems happen they think of tradition or else. Before my years, I discover often reject people who is not well-known or friendly people, invite people who is not nice or two-faced who is belong to. It would influence on another people who is following them in the way. Now, few girls scolded with me about invite one girl, huh, this question about is she nice to people with diversity at high school before graduated in 2007. They think about generation such as girl follow her parents who belong to. I think I would not say anymore of this, I will graduated next year, not back there for graduate school, look for other school make me happy. Tell me have you experience of this, think of how positive you want if people would nice to you make you feel happy. Do you want be friend with well-known people? Would you try to find solution for be friend with them? |

Why should we even bother answering this?
Nat84 has posted 39 thread starter and has 44 posts? No interaction skills of discussion with the ADers. So I encourage others not to answer anything until Nat84 consider answering some of her thread starters to discuss than stir the pot here. |

Who care...
Everyone has different taste. I was MSSD student at Gally campus for 5 years. Then, I went to Seattle. Someone asked me, "Is that true many gay or lesbian at gallaudet?" I told them that I never see any like that... Only two gally girls flirt me (I was underage) No reason to hear any negative. They are nothing wrong. Just respect them. They will nice to you. |

I don't think it's about schools. I think it's about Gallaudet. Did you realize that there are situations in Gallaudet that are getting out of hands? I heard they had to replace the football field cause it was damaged by the football team. HELLO, THE DEAF PREZ. Why would people bother with the government's problem when they got school and they were about to graduate and they had to postpone the grad. You see, Gallaudet is not just a school, it's a world where deaf can esacpe to from this reality. But only for up to 4 or 8 years as a student and if you have sponsors or money to stay. I once met a guy who stayed there for over 10 years, just to be a student of Gallaudet, I'm sure he's gone by now, but think. He wouldn't leave cause he was very into the deaf world where he couldn't care what happens out there in the world.
It's true, there are mean people in Gallaudet, but it's because they had a hard life and are afraid of falling into the gossips of the deaf. They are only mean cause they just want "in and out" education at Gallaudet before anything, like deaf prez, happens. I was freshman, and I hated everyone. But when I started to meet people, I still hated them. Haha. It was the environment that didnt' make me comfortable at all. The dorms weren't very stuble, it can get moldy, and the furnitures are used and old. The food, man, I got poisoned almost everyday. The security, they're nothing, I basically broke in every building and laughed at the DPS for not knowing as they patrol the building. The neighbor, SCARY and UNSAFE. That's how ridicilous Gallaudet is. I only stayed for a year and never attended classes and only failed ONE class. Oh yea, the education level at Gallaudet is no better than my middle school. In English, I was actually circling nouns, verbs, and adjectives. SO 5TH GRADE. My opinion about Gallaudet, change it to National University for Deaf Studies only. Not General Studies, since their teachers/aids are horrible, only a few has succeed teaching deaf students. So sad that it's a private university using Government money to pay only the president of Gallaudet. Not to mention, it got various of gigantic investment and last I heard about Gallaudet, it's still the same. Typical. |

High school do same thing, same with parks in suburbans. Its a common thing. Its normal procedure to replace add grass etc... I dont see this as negative thing. Artificial grass is a totally different. Very hard to destroy an Artificial grass, NFL and Div 1 colleges or big high school have this type of grass. Its practically made of plastic grass. I have played on all types of grass as artifical grass and muddy football field. Its depend on budget to do it. By the way... Artificial grass is VERY expensive to have. it runs 500,000 to install and replace time to time. Regular grass cost $2,000+ for seed annually. Its cheaper to do re-seeding grass on sport field than installing Artificial grass. So its common. |

Yes, I only showed one side of my perspective. You are right, Deaf Mortgage, comparing to another schools, Gallaudet has one of the smallest enrollments in USA. It is true that several of people has been influence by others who heard or visited Gallaudet.
When I visited Gallaudet for the first time, it was an awesome place for me to be at. I was only thirteen at that time and the deaf world was still unknown to me. The second chance you are talking to me about is not going to happen. Because I benefit nothing when I was living there. I felt like I was teaching at Gallaudet about things they never knew about. But then I ended up learning about the deaf world rather than teaching them about the world I lived in. Well, my other perspective of Gallaudet is that my experience was great. I explored the side of myself where I was really myself, no family or friends to look up to me as a role model. I guess that's the only thing I can say good about Gallaudet is that it's a great experience because I have never been in a deaf institute in my life until I became a student of Gallaudet. The football field; so they do seed every year. I gotcha. But I also heard that the field at Gallaudet is a turf. So fake grass. But I'm curious, is it more harmful or the same? The only reason why people aren't nice. Because there are specific groups of people that stays together through everything. Most colleges I've attended aren't like that. They all mix as if they were people among people. Nothing that made them feel different from each other because they are all students of the same college. Gallaudet isn't really like that, it's an institute where one can get in easily and leave easily. Shel- yes, it does depends on the teachers, but then who hired the teachers? Also, it does depend on the high school you attended. Mine; I attended a high school where I graduated as one of the first deaf students, there were only 2 deaf students there in that high school at the time, of its thirty years. That school had very strict education plan. Also, not many college I've attended knows Gallaudet University even tho it's one hundred or more years old. I was a bit embrassed about it. Did you every experience being embrassed or feeling embrassed for going to Gallaudet in the past when you're attending another college? I said a bit. But truly, I'm not. |

Natural grass - easy to destroy if rained. A game to remember if muddy. Fun to play on during rain but hell of job to play. Astro turf - its perfect flat but no cushion. It like playing on carpet. Painful burns if skid. Artificial grass - look like a perfect brand new grass but has sand below plastic grass. Soft and does not hurt when you fall down. Hard on ankles. I majored as Recreation: Leadership & Programming at Gallaudet. So I know a lot about Park and how it works. FYI Recreation program is top 300 in USA and accredited. Right now I am not doing my major but I do look forward in 10 years I will enter camping world again. I am soon to be a father of unborn child in matter of few days to two weeks. So I am focus on supporting family, dream later. Quote:
Its part of personal growth to have enemies and friendship. Also to have classmates and teachers for life time. That something we cannot buy but to cherish it every moment of it. Once I was done with 4 years run at Gallaudet, it was awesome experience in end. Now that chapter is closed and real world is open. Totally different realm approach. I am currently entering 4th year since I graduated and saw a lot personal growth. A lot alumni have seen each other growing up. What happens at Gallaudet, basically stay there. |
