I need to know what notetaker's responsibility to do?

well, usually a notetake's responsibility is to get as much as information that could be very useful for homework, tests, quizes, etc.... basically on any kind of information.. some of notetakers would write down all of kind of the notes of what the teacher was saying.

why, eternity? got a problem with your notetaker?

Ok let me tell you.

Is that appropriate to have NOTETAKER to inform the office if interpreter or student is not here? or inform them when is the interpreter coming in for the class ??

a notetaker is not volunteer and the school is paying a notetaker who writes a note for someone for the class.

Certainly not. Its the same thing with an interpreter- an interpreter nor the notetaker should be reporting about the student's attendance. Its the teacher's responsibility to take notice of who's not in class on time or whatever. A notetakers only supposed to do her/his part and take notes, bsbsbs.

It's not high school anymore. Speak of college -- they are adult.

You know the difference between high school and college?
About college. SHOULD notetaker inform the office if interpreter or student is not there?!?!?! or TIME ?

College ... That's even worse.. College notetakers should backof a whole lot more than high school notetakers. College students are on their OWN. Notetakers can't cross the line and inform the office. That's what I think.

I spoke with secretary and she said *we are paying a notetaker to do the job, if im not here or my interpreter, it's their duty to inform them* I told her.. That's not properly. I told her that's not her duty to do that. I paid for my class (tuition). I felt that notetaker is our babysitter or what? Notetaker means that person have to write a note for someone during in the class.

I went to college before...... for example I have to pay attention to interpeter and I can't write notes same time when the teacher is still talking. I will miss part of it so I decide to let someone else make notes for me. I dont think so it will be somebody will pay for this person to be notetaker. It is lot easier. so that is all I know.

same as mine when I wasn in college !!!

Like everyone has said, notetaker only takes notes for you and sometimes they are paid for it by the school... However, notetakers do NOT have the responsibility to report to the school when your interpreters or you are not attending class... That is up to the teacher... My college has this attendance policy that requires our professors to take attendance (more than 2 will permit the teachers to ask you to drop the class) so attendance is critical here. But that's besides the point, so I'll shut up now and post this.

We have notetakers here at RIT. They get paid for taking notes. As for my notes, usually... they're good. Sometimes, I end up getting a shitty notetaker, but luckily, I get by with the PowerPoint presentations.

But my friends are willing to being notetaker for me in volunteer way when we are in same class. :fu:

Usually, the notetaker isn't supposed to get involved with what goes on with the student. Here at RIT, the notetaker takes notes in class then turns them in at the support services office. The office converts the notes into PDF (Acrobat Reader) format and uploads them to the web. I then sign on the RIT webpage and download the notes from there. If I miss class, I will still get the notes. The notetaker does not have any other duties except sit there and takes notes. I could miss every class if I wanted to and still get my notes... heh!
