Question Oregon and Washington

I am considering about moving to Oregon or Washington. I want to work with mainstream program (deaf ed. program at public school) at either middle school or high school.

Can anyone tell me the names of mainstream schools in OR and WA and how many deaf students are in the programs each mainstream school???

Will greatly appreciate any help! Thanks!

Seattle city schools have a mainstream program, Tacoma, Everett as well.

If you choose Seattle...good luck, you need $$$$$ to live in that town!

Yes there is couple mainstream school in oregon, I went to groner elementary school its in hillsboro I think they have deaf program they have some classes where deaf get together and some they send them out with interpreter in hearing class, sames goes for middle school and high too. And for middle school I went to J.B. Thomas Middle school in hillsboro as well, and for high school I went to hillsboro high school all of 3 had deaf program there too. And there's one I know in portland i believe is called cleveland high school. That's all I know beside school for deaf and oral school. I used to live in oregon for 19 years I moved to east coast year ago :-)

There's an elementary school here that is hiring. Its not a deaf school per-say its more of a hybrid school. It has asl and english and part of the school is set aside for the deaf kids.

Its called zeiger elementary. Zeiger Elementary -Home of the Explorers-

Hi,

I have attended Tucker Maxon Oral School as a child since 14 months of age and from there, I have also attended Cascade Middle School and Evergreen High School. The Evergreen District is well known for mainstream of Deaf kids attending public schools with hearing people.

I know because I have been one of them and Lots of my deaf friends has also attended same schools as I have.

So I would really recomanded Evergreen District, which is located in Vancouver, Washington.

Good Luck, if you have any questions, you are welcome to ask me.

If you want mainstream in OR, I RECOMMEND Vancouver, Washington or Portland, Oregon or Salem, Oregon.

For Washington, I RECOMMEND mostly Seattle metro area, Spokane, Tri-Cities, and Yakima.

I went to mainstream whole my school times in Vancouver, Washington. What school I went is Fircrest Elementary School, Cascade Junior High School, Discovery Middle School, and then Hudson's Bay High School.

Up to ya!

Hey everyone, I know some of you guys tried to pm me or leaving a message on my profile. I am very sorry that I haven't been around here lately because I went up to Puyallup State Fair working with my parents, and then I decided to go to Yakima Fair with my parents to work more, somehow when I came back and discovered that my computer had collasped. So I won't be using the computer as often as I was used to.

Thanks everyone

Ohh I used to go there when I was in kindergation to 3 grade, but my parents decide to move me to the public schools because the WSD want me to stay in 3 grade again in another year because of my age, which my parents refuse to allow so... I actually thanked my parents for move me to the public school.

Used to, in 2006, I took the Japanese language classes, but not now anymore because I don't know what I want for career yet.

Ohh good luck! Actually, my opinion about WSD, the WSD is just okay. I just don't like some of staffs there, but some are good. WSD do need more good staffs, and you can change it there to be better school
