TAMPA --
A Tampa woman charged three times in less than 17 days with driving under the influence will remain out of jail on bail for now, a judge said.

Kimberly McCarthy, who turned 18 in January, faces an array of DUI- and drug-related charges after three traffic stops, police said.

Tampa police first arrested McCarthy on Feb. 24 at 50th Street South and Palm River Road. She was charged with DUI, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on bail the next day.

On March 11, police arrested McCarthy at Kennedy Boulevard and Tampania Avenue. She was charged with DUI and possession of cannabis, and again was released on bail.

The next day, officers arrested her again, charging her with DUI, possession of cannabis and possession of marijuana. Again, she was released on bail.

On Monday, a prosecutor asked Judge John Conrad to revoke her bail. The judge set a hearing for next week to give McCarthy time to hire an attorney.

But before the proceeding was over, Conrad gave McCarthy a stern warning.

"Under no circumstance are you to consume alcohol. Do you understand that?" the judge said.

"Yes, sir," McCarthy replied.

The judge told McCarthy that if she violates any of the conditions of her release, she will be held without bail until the cases are resolved.

After the hearing, McCarthy said she was under the influence of marijuana during the traffic stops, but was not drunk.

McCarthy's next hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. April 2.

She should have been locked up the second time and her license revoked! Now hopefully it will be for at least 1 year and maybe more. Hope they hit her with a stiff fine or jail time too!

Irrelevant. Driving under the influence isn't limited to alcohol; it also pertains ti legal and illegal drugs.
