Ind. Police: Babysitter beat, dismembered girl

That is truly awful on so many levels. :(

I think that I may need a media vacation. This stuff really gets to me.

Very sad, just before christmas. The girl was hearin impaired or hard of hearin. :( I wonder what the motive was.

articles not say about girl have deaf or hearing

I beg to differ. First link:
Aliahna's mother, Tarah Souders, told The Journal Gazette on Sunday that her daughter had vision, hearing and emotional problems and suffered from attention deficit disorder.

Her hearin was also mentioned on tv. I read closed captions. When I heard she was partly deaf, I got real sad. Just wrong. She never got the chance to be a child.

Father of slain Indiana girl Aliahna Lemmon says he's overcome with grief
Father of slain Indiana girl Aliahna Lemmon says he's overcome with grief - Crimesider - CBS News

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The father of slain 9-year-old Aliahna Lemmon, who was found bludgeoned and dismembered, said on Wednesday that he knew the man accused of killing his daughter and had no reason to distrust him.

"I can't talk about it because I'm still coping with it. It's too hard to talk about," Dawayne Maroney told The Associated Press, adding that the gruesome slaying has him overcome with grief.

Maroney said he hadn't spoken recently with his daughter or her mother, because they frequently changed their phone number.

Maroney said he knew 39-year-old Michael Plumadore, the man accused of killing his daughter, through his daughter's mother, Tarah Souders.

Maroney said he trusted Plumadore.

"I had no reason to suspect anything," he said.

Plumadore faces a preliminary charge of murder. He made a brief initial court appearance on Tuesday where he was ordered held without bond. He is due back in court Friday morning.

Allen County Sheriff's investigators said in an affidavit that Plumadore admits he killed Aliahna Lemmon in the early morning hours of Dec 22. According to the affidavit, Plumadore told authorities that after beating the girl to death, he stuffed her body into trash bags and hid her in the freezer at his trailer in northeast Indiana's Allen County.

Plumadore told authorities that later that day and early on Dec. 23 he used a hack saw to dismember the girl's body.

Allen County Coroner E. Jon Brandenberger on Wednesday said he won't be able to determine the cause of death for Aliahna until further tests are completed.

Authorities said they could not comment on a possible motive for the murder.

what is this world coming to? (and for additional contemplation, see my signature below)

I've heard that this guy assaulted a police officer in the past and had another arrest previous to this. Doesn't sound like the kind of guy to babysit your kids!

He has a warrant in Florida. Saw it on the news this morning.

Murder charge for Ind. girl's baby sitter
Murder charge for Ind. girl's baby sitter - CBS News

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Prosecutors in Indiana charged a baby sitter with murder and two other felonies Friday after he told police he bludgeoned and dismembered a 9-year-old girl just days before Christmas.

Michael Plumadore, 39, was charged in Fort Wayne with murder, abuse of a corpse and removing a dead body from the scene in the killing of Aliahna Maroney-Lemmon.

Authorities say Plumadore told police he killed Aliahna in the early hours of Dec. 22. She was reported missing Friday night.

Plumadore had been looking after the girl and her two younger sisters because their mother was sick. He had looked after Aliahna's dying grandfather and her family had considered him a trusted friend and neighbor.

Plumadore is jailed without bond.

Danielle Edenfield, the Allen County prosecutor's office chief investigator, said Friday the charges would be read to him in jail. An initial court hearing on the formal charges is scheduled for Wednesday.

Allen County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Mike McAlexander told The News-Sentinel Friday that his office "has not precluded" the possibility of seeking the death penalty against Plumadore.

The standard prison sentence for a murder conviction in Indiana is 45 years to 65 years. The other charges each carry maximum sentences of three years in prison.

Documents filed Friday by prosecutors identified Aliahna with the names of both her father, Dawayne Maroney of Centerville, Iowa, and the maiden name of her mother, Tarah Souders.

According to court documents, Plumadore told police he hit the girl repeatedly in the head with a brick. He then put the girl's body inside trash bags and stuffed it inside a freezer in the trailer where he had lived with her grandfather.

Plumadore told authorities that he later used a hack saw to dismember her body.

Police arrested him Monday, two days after more than 100 emergency workers searched the rundown trailer park in the north of Fort Wayne where he and Aliahna's family lived.

Police said Plumadore told them he had hidden Aliahna's head, feet and hands at the trailer and discarded her other remains at a nearby business. Police obtained a warrant to search the trailer on Monday and found the body parts.

Plumadore has a criminal record in Florida and North Carolina that includes convictions for trespassing and assault, and an Indiana conviction for forgery.

Meanwhile, CBS affiliate WANE-TV reports that the mobile home that Plumadore was living in when he allegedly killed Lemmon is being moved to an undisclosed location.

Yes he have crime record two in Florida and North Carolina but he should in Jail! I would agree with babyblue who need to watch kids not pathetic people to killed your child!! On parent's nightmare! If you go out somewhere and let your parents or relatives watch kids its best chose not underages kids!
