I tried my hardest to google news articles on this bill before the vote and no national newspaper covered it. They last touched upon it a few years ago when buzz about its proposal was making the rounds. It disturbed me that no major media discussed it in the past year.

Susan Landauer is a good example of how such legislation like this one and the Patriot Act can be abused.

It sure hasn't gotten much coverage, unfortunately. However, there is something we can do about it...

Someone told me about the military detention bill last night. I hadn't heard of it until now! Why does stuff like this get ramrodded through Congress and it doesn't seem to matter who is the President, they will sign it, Republican or Democrat. Argh!

I don't think i would either and I like his platform better than most of the GOP candidates' platform as well. Anything to do with people's rights will always be a deal breaker for me when come to political stuff regarding libertarians. I do not like all of it though.

The Defense Authorization Act isn't that different from the Patriot Act, except for increase in presidential power.

The Patriot Act has been abused many many times and in many different ways. It is concerning.

I think they did away with the more sinister aspects of the bill. Correct? Also, Obama is the one who guarded against this. He threatened to veto any bill that included the military's right to detain American citizens without any just cause.
