Fox59 received a call from a parent of a Mount Vernon high school student Wednesday morning. The parent of a Fortville High School student told Fox59 there was a Facebook hit list page called “Mount Vernon’s Worst.”
Fox59 contacted the Mount Vernon School Corporation. They said they were aware of the Facebook page.
The parent who contacted Fox59 said she called Fortville police around 11 p.m. Tuesday to notify them about the alleged hit list. Police contacted the high school’s assistant principal.
The Facebook page was taken down around 11:30 p.m. The school’s administration said they are aware of the “embellishments” on social network sites.
The school initiated a security plan Wednesday morning. As students arrived to school, they were searched by staff, faculty and police. No weapons were found.
The high school says they are trying to get a subpoena to find out who posted the hit list on Facebook.
Classes were delayed as a result of the alleged threat.
