UN what to promote BUGS for FOOD for Everyone!

If you got lost in the woods, you'll need to eat insects in order to survive.

Go to any thai market and you will find bugs for sale. All kinds of them. I did sample a few and let's say wont be sampling them again unless it was for survival's sake. first time I deliberately ate bugs was the chocolate covered ants in elementary school. Surprisingly tasty. ants were nice and crunchy.

My boys will buy the bugs and eat them. UGH.. First time I saw them eat bugs was when we went to Florida Museum at UF... They bought some and chowed down on them. Some kind of fried grub or worm cheddar cheese flavor. I started to gag when I saw them eat it.

People will eat about anything to survive.... :) I will not eat bugs unless my survival instinct kicks in.

I'm aware of that but I don't htink i'm brave enough hto try out bugs in Thai cooking.

My parents went traveling and brought back ants and made all their friends try them before saying "HAHA YOU'RE EATING ANTS!!"

That said, in areas where protein and other nutrients are scarce, insects would make an excellent source of protein.

Also, anthropologist moment: people in some parts of Asia eat dogs, which Americans find disgusting. People in Peru eat guinea pigs, which Americans find disgusting. Americans eat cows, which Indians find disgusting. It's all relative. Plus I'm sure some of those Jimmy Dean sausages wrapped in pancakes on a stick would gross out quite a few foreigners. :laugh2: In some cultures insects are a delicacy. If we grew up eating them, we probably wouldn't have such a gut reaction of "eww!"

I like using ham hocks in my cooking. That's pig ankles. I have grossed out people when I told them what I was using.

My grandmother Smith used to serve frog legs to my brother and sister. I know where to get frozen frog legs and it's only a mile away from where I live.
