They already have the DNA from his family.
Proof is here: U.S. Asks Bin Laden Family For DNA Samples - ABC News

It would only take 5-7 hours to run 1 test. Take out one piece from anywhere on his body, a hair cell, a skin cell, a tongue cell, whatever.
Run a PCR (Polymerase chain reaction) test to make duplicates of the cell, after they have the genetic transcript they start analyzing it with his family member's DNA on an electrophoresis slab. They'll choose one of the many region of DNA analysis, like 12S or 16S, whatever they wish. Or do more than one test.

That's it, compare it and see if it is similar. That is the picture you see on CSI and whatever shows. All the proof you need cause there would be no way to fake your own cells.

CNN reported at 3 this morning EST that Osama was buried at sea.

Thanks! I was looking for the info on how long the DNA test would take. I knew that the length of time depends on which test you want to run. I heard that the longest test can be up to 2 months.

Celebrating this would be like the Packers celebrating a Pop Warner team. The man was a gnat.....a pesky gnat.....but a gnat. Celebrating his death only gives him credibility IMO.

but I confuse different google map photos.
It is the wrong one. Also the compound belongs to a former Pakistani military officer, not Osama's. Supposedly it belonged to him, he would be found easily.

It was the U.S. Army soldiers who did take these pictures.

Also I want to emphasize you that the ones that they abused were prisoners, not hostages.

Question, since I keep seeing it differently - is the correct spelling "Osama" or "Usama"?

Since the picture was very gruesome, I do not think they should release it to the public.

Good job to the U.S. military. Soldiers, sailors and airmen and marines have cameras mounted on their helmets when going into battles. To prove the facts v. the fictions.

Four years?

They did take a picture of his dead body for proof or the picture could be taken by ISI, Pakistan's Intelligence service. That is why the White House has been debating over the release of this very gruesome picture.

This one googled on what they hoped it is Osama's compound. They didn't find it as the map was taken back in 2005 when the compound was being built.

Muslim spelling "Usama" pronounced "Osama"; thus the accepted American spelling. Hooked on phonics, you know!

Ah, okay. So, technically, both are correct, just like both "Spanish" and "Español" are technically correct?

A "most wanted" gnat. And the fact still remains that this commander in chief was able to do what previous admins couldn't. He found and got rid of the "gnat".( Even considering all that lack of military experience his detractors complained about during his campaign.)

I'm still surprised only 3 men went down guarding Osama.
Where were the rest of his army?

The intelligence works usually take long time because there are so many tools and ways that they need to use to track, monitor and confirm valuable targets. They tend to take actions whenever the proof or evidence about the target become enough strongly conclusion.

yea especially since it's in Pakistan. You definitely do not want to make a mistake in Pakistan. It was hard enough to get Pakistan to cooperate with us. Can't imagine if we made a mistake and bombed wrong people.

The US paid Pakistan millions dollars in foreign aid and Pakistan voted with the US at the UN less than 10%. Israel voted with the US 90% of the times and they get 6 billion dollars annually.
Intelligence take time. CIA analysts read what the covert spies overseas collected, the NGA analyst look at the imaginary data, the NSA listeneded and DIA collected. Like a checkmate type of thing.
