Deaf victim of sex abuse sues Pope

I used to live in Milwaukee, and I have heard a lot of stories about Murphy, and Jeffrey Dahmer. Horrible city to live in!

Murphy raped about 200 deaf boys - that piss me off, because he was imprisoned and died "to get away from it". Hope he is stuck in the Hell.

I think Kohut is very brave to sue the Pope. I am not going to start a catholic bashing thread, that is NOT my purpose.

The cover-up of pedophilia in the Catholic priesthood needs to stop.

I don't know that it's a totally horrible city to live in general -there are bad things about it. And there are good things about it.
But I am very saddened by the situation with the pedophilia. That is inexcusable. I do agree I hope he wins.

This is also disturbing:

"Groups of boys tried to tell local police and even the local District Attorney in Milwaukee about what was being done to them, according to Kohut, Geier, Nelson and others CNN interviewed. But no one ever believed their story, and local police even drove them back to the school, returning the boys to Father Murphy."

Why was there no action taken by the police?

I wish Kohut the best success with his case but I don't know if he'll prevail because of legal and jurisdiction hindrances. :(

I agree that this is very sad. I think < my opinion> that unfortunately, especially historically, certain institutions and practices <institutional racism for example> have had such power, that even the police don't do anything, or do less than what they should. Other things like - spousal abuse, for example - in an example, as in many cases still - the female partner calls/gets cops to come - but historically, no one is arrested because the couple is married, the abuse happened in their home. "not our business" the cops say.

This makes me very sad. When I was a child, my family would go to Mass every week. We kids went to catechism, received our first communions, the whole route. I had difficulty lipreading in the confessional booth, so the priest and I went into a small private room for my confessions. I was never abused. Still, it makes me sad to hear of these incidences.

I do wonder if sexual abuses do happen in other religions at the same rate as we seem to perceive the roman catholic priests abusing the boys?

yes - regardless of religion.
