'World News' Wants to Hear What You Think About Guns in Starbucks

Starbucks has become a battleground in a fight over whether gun owners should be allowed to openly wear unloaded handguns in public. The "Open Carry" movement advocates carrying weapons on holsters in plain sight.

In recent months, gun advocates have held "open carry" meet-ups at Starbucks stores in the San Francisco Bay Area. Starbucks says it will allow the guns as long as they're legal. That decision is angering gun control advocates.

Our question to you today: Should Starbucks allow gun owners to openly carry handguns in its stores?

I don't understand the why of an open carry and UNLOADED firearm but it is legal, so, sure.

I don't understand it either, I always carry my gun loaded.

I mean, if your robbed, what are you going to do, yell "BANG!"?
My answer would be to allow legally licensed gun permit holders to carry their guns LOADED.

Honestly, I get nervous whenever I see someone openly wearing a gun in a place that doesnt have anything to do with guns.

so police officers scare you?

Dunno.

I don't have a problem with gun owners, as long they're not pointing them at anything.

Well obviously police officers are bound by certain laws to only use them when needed in an emergency where as a civilian can fire at random and whenever they want to if they so choose

So can anyone with a knife.

A fork.

A beer bottle.

An umbrella.

Oh, maybe we should ban canes from being used in public over of fear of cane-swords?

And did I say they couldn't...NO I just said POLICE OFFICERS WERE NOT LIKELY TO FIRE AT WILL. Meaning Shel probably isn't uncomfortable around a police officer...read properly before making a stupid post...i was NOT replying to the thread on a whole more on what Shel said and what Jiro's response was...but thanks so much for coming out and commenting uselessly on my post

an EPIC FAIL logic there :aw:

1. a police officer can fire randomly whenever and wherever. Remember a few cases of persons being shot over 15x by NYPD? NYPD was found guilty.
2. if a civilian went berserk, he would be shot by other armed civilian.
3. many shooting spree occurs at location where guns are banned or highly restricted

oh just like your EPIC FAIL in the use of the word "dyke" jiro...

A police officer is LESS likely to fire at random then a random person is...and i never did say that shooting sprees do not occur. But IN MY OWN OPINION and I am sure Shel would agree I would feel more comfortable with a police officer carrying a gun on their hip then a random person carrying a gun on their hip

I am not nervous around police officers who have handguns..just civilians. Never know if someone can go postal!

I can say... after being on the receiving ends of several things...

i am a lot more afraid of being stabbed than being shot for some reason.

kinda off-topic there but let me refer you to this thread

so show me any news about a law-abiding armed citizen going on shooting spree

I can post some statistics on Sweden ..... how high is the crime rate in Sweden?

What about Israel?

ummm, no... this is incorrect. A law abiding citizen must have their firearm holstered. If it is not holstered, they can be charged with brandishing a weapon.

Their are also ordinance laws regarding discharging a firearm. You simply cannot shoot anything you want to.

This is what separates "law abiding" from "criminals".
