Miracle baby is run over by train and survives - watch the video

That woman is a dumbass, she should have never let go of that stroller, EVER!

She should be charged with criminal negligence!

It is a miracle that the baby survived!

I don't think it was her fault. :( And the pram probably would not move if there was no train. Anyway, fortunately the baby survived, and the mother will hopefully be more careful in future.

Those prams have brakes. It is always best if you stop to put the brake on. I am sure she will always think of that now.

Second here, I was surprised about happened and subway should have platform screen door like in Hong Kong, China, Singapore, South Korea (some) and some UK subway to prevent from anything goes in under platform.

eh the reason why not many cities have platforms is because incidents like this is rare compared to number of people using it per year. it does not warrant the cost to install it unless they don't mind paying an increase in their subway fare

but I surely wish majority of NYC subway is nice and modernized

why? it's just a dumb mistake. she should be charged with child negligence if she KNOWINGLY ignored the danger - ie. letting the baby play with fire. Look at the mother - she was extremely horrified and her world was torn apart. It's just a really dumb mistake.

:jaw:

Wow!! THAT'S VERY SCARY! I'm soo glad that baby is okay! I can't believe it is only a bump to the head!! Foxrac, yeah, we should have it like Asia countries for a reasonable intention...

They are used in order to control the rush of people.

I was in Melbourne, Australia where the accident happened, for almost one week two months ago and I took aboard a train that stopped by that station a few times. The platforms in Melbourne do not need those screen doors because they do not have those kind of rushes of passengers like in Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Like Bottensini said, the mother just needed to apply a brake which would easily prevented her baby in a pram from moving.

:eek3: It's not safe to let that stroller go unless if, it had brakes on!

I cannot believe how some are so judgmental about the mother. She looked extremely terrified. The mother is the one that suffers the most, not the baby. The baby will NOT remember being hit by a train and that's a good thing but the mother will never forget it.

If you look at the video, she let it go for only a few seconds - you don't expect the pram to scroll away that fast. You always hold the pram at all times and put brakes on them all the time? I don't think so.

Stop being so judgmental and be grateful that a simple mistake, clearly unintentional, did not end the baby's life.

well-said.

Tokyo subway don't have platform screen door as I know that.

I'm wonder if NYC subway has rush issue?

Yup, you are right about mother should apply the brake to avoid from rolling down the under platform.

I'm glad the baby lived thru it. I don't think the mother will forget to use the brakes the next time.

You are quite a bitter man, I have to say.

nope. well we do have rush hour issue but not as bad as Tokyo because we have subway coming in every 10-15 min during rush hour. not that bad. I commute by subway everyday - rush hour during morning and evening. if train's full - just wait for next train. it'll come pretty soon. No problem.

for tokyo - people crammed into it because the trip is very very far. they stay in subway for probably an hour or so. those poor people....

The mother was neglectful? Geez..it was an innocent mistake..one she will be tormented for the rest of her life.

Iam glad the baby wasn't harmed. That's the most important thing.

Wow. Very frightening moment.

I cannot see the use in jailing this woman. She will be living with the horror of her brief foolishness for the rest of her life. Sure seemed as though the stroller rolled very high speeds. Also, her shoes were not much help. Looked like she had high heels on.

Incarceration is generally used to get people to stop bad behaviour, or to keep them from endangering others. What purpose would a year in jail serve for this mother? Especially in this time where some areas are releasing prisoners to save money, it seems like she has already been sentenced, without tax dollars/pounds required.
