Deputies: Cherokee Teen Made Up Attack - Atlanta News Story - WGCL Atlanta

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. -- A Cherokee County teenager who claimed he was stabbed by a burglar was arrested Friday and charged with filing a false report, officials said.

David Whitaker, 18, was interviewed Friday by Cherokee County sheriff's investigators.

Whitaker is being held at the Cherokee County jail on a $680 bond.

Whitaker's father, a police officer, said he wants to teach his son a lesson and will not be bailing him out of jail.

According to a statement released Friday afternoon, Whitaker admitted he was playing with a sword in his home when he accidentally cut himself on his upper arm.

Whitaker was afraid he was going to get into trouble, the statement said, so he made up the story about the intruder coming into the home on Pine Acres Drive Thursday.

Whitaker told CBS Atlanta Thursday night that he was home alone when he heard his family’s dogs barking.

“Right at the kitchen entry way, a guy comes out wearing dark clothes with a hood on. My natural reaction is that I just jump up and I start running. I run at him and I tackle him into the table and knock over a few things,” Whitaker said.

Whitaker claimed he was injured when the intruder cut him with a knife.

“He swings the knife at me and I try to dodge him and he cuts me on the arm,” Whitaker said.

Authorities said four local schools were locked down while police officers from multiple agencies searched for the intruder.

Dumbass kids these days.....

Kid,s forever have wanted to get out of trouble. It's just more recent that that started putting them in jail for a stupid tall tale that didn't hurt anyone.

Before the public humiliation was enough.
