Boy found dead in school bathroom killed himself

Very sad. :(

Where did it say it was the result of bullying? I didn't see that.

as expected of you - very sharp eye! :cool2: He could have committed suicide due to depression... maybe to avoid shitty life from abusive parents. :dunno:

I'm sure the media will release a reason after they investigate more on it.

How tragic for a child to feel they have commit suicide. Really does makes you wonder what was the cause of this. :(

When I read the title I thought it was an older boy I wouldn't imagin it would have been a 10 year old. I can't imagin!

Very sad... :(

I hope the media will update the article to tell us exact what, how and why he did.

So young and then suicide... :( something doesn't quite add there... I personally wouldn't know what kind of knot to do in order to commit suicide by hanging... ?!? And that boy is 10 years young!

Either way... Depression or bullying..
It's SO sad... but his parents should have seen a sign of their son's behavior, depression and so forth that would save his life.

Actually, suicidal 10 year olds are not that uncommon. It is that when we don't expect a 10 year old to be suicidal that we miss the signs. It is particularly in line that he hung himself. Ten year olds don't normally have access to guns or medications. They use the means they have available to them.

That's terrible. Since it was ruled as a suicide - There is no way of knowing if a bullying had occurred to cause the boy to commit suicide. It could be anything else, ie; A traumatic event at home, bullying, depression, or any other various incidents that resulted him wanting to commit suicide.

If this young man did, indeed, make a teacher aware of his intent, and he/she did not immediately notify crisis intervention and take the necessary steps to prevent the suicide and insure that this young man received the mental health services he needed, then the teacher can be prosecuted. She is mandated by law to report.

Now that DCF is involved. I'm sure the teacher and the school will be liable for his suicide. Due to he skipped class and told the teacher of his intent. No one even took it seriously.

The troubled child told a teacher. :( He was ignored basically. They did not even monitor him, much less took action to report him to crisis intervention.

If the boy would have told the teacher he was going to shoot someone. The teacher would have jumped to the opportunity to call law enforcement. How twisted is that. Threat to any life even themselves should be taken seriously.

I have a sneaky feeling the child had some behavior issues, and the teacher just viewed him as a nuisances.

That is quite possible, Babyblue. Teachers cannot be expected to diagnose mental disturbances in a classroom full of kids. While a child with problems may very well be a disruption to the classroom, it is the teacher's primary responsibility to maintain order in the classroom based on behavior, not to diagnose mental disturbances.

Having said that, I will also say that some behaviors are so indicative of some problems that a teacher should also see some red flags, and refer. And since this child made a specific statement of his intent, any teacher that did not act on that is negligent, at the very minimum.
