I agree....an accessory if she is covering up for someone. Just wait and see what the evidence at the trial unfolds...

i've never heard about this story. it must be similar to the alexis patterson case i mentioned earlier in that the notoriety of the case might just depend on where you live. (for example, midwest as opposed to northeast)

Cases like this serve as the ulterior motive to why I am eventually pursuing a MS in criminalistics starting next year. As my first major I did sociology and wanting to help everyone out due to the impression people were all nice and kind, and liars were a rare thing. Once I tried that profession when I got out of college, boy I was in for a hard but well-learned lesson. Even at my previous job, people could do nothing but be complaining bastards even though all I intended was to help them without a second thought.

I believe in the idea of helping out people in the forensic world today, my take on it is that you are still helping even if you keep the answers to yourself after you did the lab results, due to legal boundaries.

Cheri and the side clashing her opinions both have respective reasons for their judgments.

#1 fact that is prior to everything and still applies; is the definition of law. Laws are a collection of rules made by the people which are then enforced by the proper authority. Laws were created to regulate & monitor society's behavior. Society often has scumbags, or people who attempt to cheat the "honest" system, which is ultimately why laws are created.
We cannot control what people think of, this is something that is unregulated. Our government's constitution allows for this.

This is why Cheri's argument still applies - she thought Casey Anthony is a killer immediately due to the way the case progressed. The facts were overwhelmingly against Casey, no matter which way you look at it. The same applied for O.J. Simpson, which serves as a strong counter for the legal action debacle in this case. Everyone with logical thinking had a premonition O.J. killed his wife, yet legal action could not prove this.

Then there is the reason why the laws for fair trials were created. It is to give everyone an equal chance, regardless of race, language, sexual orientation, or any form of discrimination. With plausible reasoning, they will find you guilty or not. This way, guilty people will be served with the proper justice they deserve in "proper format", rather than just jump the gun and put them on the chair or lie detector test.

Yet we do know, there are often mistakes with this system, there are plenty of examples out there, to give a few:
[1] [2]

The real issue is, we know that people lie. If no one could ever lie, even through modern means, such as a truth serum, lie detector tests - there would be no means for a criminal justice system. But reality is, we know people continue to lie and the actual truth serum is highly unreliable.

Fortunately with the ever-improving advancements in forensic science today, we can get more information out of less evidence. I can assure you that they don't work as fast as CSI on TV and a lot of that is fancy mumbo-jumbo, however the lab results are similar and take time but most importantly have legal issues you have to document prior to advancing towards a sudden claim.

On topic, I really wish I was in that crime lab to know what was discovered in the evidence aside from what was said. I hope the child gets proper justice as a result of all this.

I don't feel sorry if the parents knew what was going on but did nothing to stop the crime.

Case in point:

State says mom knew of sex abuse | burlingtonfreepress.com | The Burlington Free Press

Mother knew that man was molesting her daughter but did nothing to stop him.

I also have a hard time feeling sorry for these kids that get killed. Call me cold but I think that parents sometimes use bad judgments when it comes to family friends, etc and that hurts their kids more than they think.

I think that parents who know about crimes but do not report them are just as guilty in their child's death than the actual perp.

cold isn't the word that comes to mind....

if the parent are unfit, why would you not feel empathy for the child?

did the child ask the parent to be scum?

Does the child ask to be abused physically or sexually?

think the child wants to be neglected?

children do not ask for any of that.

Let me propose another question: Millions of kids/people die everyday, go missing, etc.

Why does the media always focus on the white kids/people? What about the millions of other kids who die everyday?

And no, while the kids did not ask for their fates, sometimes their parents are guilty of gross negligence, though not in the majority of the cases.

Why is it so hard for people to watch their kids nowadays?

I have compassion but I reserve it for people who truly deserve it. I have seen too many examples of people who do not deserve compassion. I am the uncle of a niece whose mother lost 3 children...THREE children to SRS because she could not be bothered to provide a good home for them. I have seen this woman and her personal dealings. She is a cocaine/oxy dealer and she has gone unpunished for too long.

Trust me, that is what shapes my lack of compassion for some of the parents of these kids, especially the ones that are just like my niece's mother.

Either take care of your kids and instill values in them (not necessarily tied to any religion) or deal with the consequences.

I gave you my opinion and whether or not you like it is of no consequence to me. If you want to ban me for not grieving over missing kids, then do it.

Rest assured, if anyone harmed my niece, I would definitely feel the same pain that these parents feel.

I was a single mom from the time my son was 6 years old, as his father died. I know I did my best to keep up with his comings and goings, but I also know that it is unrealistic to expect me to be by his side 24/7 and still put food on the table, and a roof over our heads.

the children in those situations still deserves compassion. Help is what the kids need the most. to be removed from the dangerous enviroment. so that they have a chance at a better life. unfortunatly most people prefer to ignore all problems and not care, unless it affects them.

it is very hard. single parents do the best that they can. most do a great job. single parents earn and deserve the upmost respect...

while on the other end of the spectrum, there are single parents that do not care about their children. those parents would rather go out and get drunk/high/laid or whatever... to busy thinking about themselves and not care about their child one iota. those parents don't deserve respect. still the child deserves compassion and help...

This is what I feel happened. I don't think the mother intended to kill Caylee. I think she may have wanted to knock her out with the chloroform, so she can go out and party. But overdid it and causing her death. Then Lied about it to cover her tracks.

That is just my Opinion.

Casey has every right to a fair trial, and she will get it with a Jury. Meanwhile people will guess and speculate all they want.

No one, including me knows the truth and probably never will.

This just gives us something to talk about.

exactly. after all, the child never asked to be brought into that kind of situation in the first place.

The fact that she covered her with the chloroform shows a motive to injure or kill Caylee, since I doubt she knew the potential of the chloroform. I think there's enough evidence right there to convict the mother. If she's not convicted, then that would be an outrage.

Any parent that puts their social life above the welfare of their children (like my brother and his ex did before he went to jail), deserves to lose custody of their children and if they kill or harm their children, they should be locked up.

i thought i heard that the police found evidence of a google search for "chloroform" on casey's computer. if so, wouldn't that information give casey some clue as to its' potential harm?

as for your latter point, I couldn't agree more.
