'Baah-Woof': Unlikely pair of pets found

Quote:
CHATSWORTH (KABC) -- Is this the meaning of true puppy love -- a sheep devoted to a German shepherd mix?

The two play and share the same food, and apparently they are inseparable.

"We tried to separate them, and apparently the sheep went crazy. She wants to be with her female companion, the dog," said Jessie Franco, West Valley Animal Shelter. "So we had to put them together. I have never seen this type of relationship before. Not here in L.A."

Keepers at the West Valley Animal Shelter say that the dog and the sheep had no ID tags, but they are likely someone's pets.

Sylmar restaurant owner Giovanni Caruso found the pair wandering along a freeway ramp a few days ago.

"They looked like they were lost, but I could not believe my eyes. The sheep always follows the dog," said Caruso. "They look like they have been together for a long time."

Caruso loaded the two lost souls in his car and took them to his grandma's house.

"She couldn't believe it either, and all the family started to hassle her about it. She likes animals and she fed them like 20 times a day," said Caruso.

The couple was brought to the shelter on Wednesday. They are now hoping to hear from the owner.

If the owner does not claim the pair, they will most likely be offered for adoption together.
