Boo, they're making munnies off it! Booo!!! It better to go charity! I'm in the silican mob, I'll have them know with a nine iron to the knee!

Well, that was a big waste and disappointment.

Wow, looks awful and a rusty classic. Amazing what the water and soil can do to a car in 50 years. I guess the people in 1950's didn't know how to seal up the vault properly back then.

Indeed, The car is rusted up but it is already a piece of history because, who would have thought of burying a car underground?

I realize that the technology was not that great 50 years ago and the vault was made out of concrete, it also was not sealed up very well which caused the water to seep in.

Even though the car was ruined, it didn't stop the people from coming in to see the car and other various memorabilia that came along with it. The tires were still in great shape. There are more details to what other stuffs that were put in the car as well on this link

Since the 1957 Plymouth car didn't do so well and that raises the questions for the 1998 Plymouth Prowler which is also buried underground in Tulsa as well. It will be dug out in 2048. You can read more about the 1998 Plymouth Prowler on this link as well. I don't think I would ever want to bury a $300 thousand car.

Holy crap! A Belvedere?! I agree, I hope it goes to charity too.

Wow, I hope that car comes out in mint condition in 2048, lol. It's gonna be a really long wait for all of us. They said the capsule is made out of aluminium and is pressured to make sure it comes out in mint condition. We'll see about that.

I spent most of last weekend so totally obsessed with Miss Belvedere. I was hoping for her to come out fresh and mint last Friday. I was a bit disappointed it didnt turn out that way, but she's going to be the most original ZERO miles car ever, rusty or not :D Too bad the beer was undrinkable after 50 years.

I hope the person or his heirs who wins the car gives it to a museum so it will be preserved for future generations to see. Better to leave the car as is as she got 50 years of underground experience no other car will ever have.

I can't wait until 2048...wait that will make me 76 years old when the Prowler comes out of its above ground vault. Unlike the 57 Belvedere being given away to the winner, the Prowler is going back to Chrysler when it comes out.

The people in Tulsa are thinking of burying another time capsule this November 10 (Oklahoma's 100th Anniversary). Possible they want to bury airplane parts instead of another car. I say they go ahead and bury a Chrysler 300C SRT-8 or a Dodge Viper SRT-10 GTS, but do it the same way they did with the Prowler (above ground vault filled with agron gas) I guess Tulsa really do love burying cars more than any other town.

I hope they register the new capsule with the International Time Capsule Society :)

Update on Miz Belvedere:

Tulsa officials just annonuced last Friday the car will have a new owner....Bad news is the winner will not claim the car 'cause he's been dead for over 28 years. So they will award Miz Belvedere to his heirs.

Tulsa World

Editor's note: On Friday, Raymond E. Humbertson was identified as the winner of Tulsa's 1957 Plymouth Belvedere. The car was buried 50 years ago to celebrate Oklahoma's semicentennial. Humbertson, who died in 1979, came closest to guessing Tulsa's 2007 population. This story appears in Sunday's Cumberland Times-News in Humbertson's hometown of Cumberland, Md.

CUMBERLAND, Md. -- Unlike the resurrected 1957 Plymouth Belvedere awaiting his heirs in Tulsa, Okla., the gifts given by Raymond Humbertson have withstood the test of time -- and tell the tale of a beloved brother and uncle.

The man whose 50-year-old prediction was unearthed along with the vintage car on June 15, "R.E. Humbertson" turned out to be Raymond Eugene -- a Cumberland native whose family just learned he unknowingly left them one, final gift.

I had a 1960 4 door model once. Had a push button 2 speed auto and used to outpace a 327 Camaro till I got into 2nd gear at 70 mph.

Thats neat, I never would have thought about burying a car as part of a timecapsule - but then again who does think about burying cars anyhow?

I will show this link to my parents as my dad was in high school around that time and lived in the area so he may know about it, and my mom was born in 56, so she may be interested to see stuff from when she was about a year old being unearthened.

I hope I live long enough to see the 2048 capsule opened. I'll be 63 when it is opened - that is if I did my math right.
