Conservative dress definitely comes to mind here and none of them seem to have an individuality whatsoever.
so does that mean when the males wear their clothes they all the same color? how boring...

Hi Liebling,

I'm not sure I would say the clothes are cult-like, but I know what you mean. I would say the clothing was conservative. Very conservative. Ugh. It reminds me of a fundamentalist Christian's way of thinking (which these people are), so I can see where you'd consider them to be cult-like.

It reminds me of the church I grew up in and I don't need the nightmares, thank you!

I'm not sure about the color, but probably. It does sound boring; you're right.

One thing to keep in mind, those are what we see on TV. I am sure they wear jeans or comfortable clothes when just at home with no cameras around.

Well, I wear dresses the majority of the time. I wear alot of pull over clothing, because it's easier for me to dress myself that way. Back before I could dress myself, Mom put me in pants. That was when she did it. Soon as I learned how to dress myself, I went into dresses. I don't mind that, but wearing the same style of dress every day or the same color scheme every day would drive me nuts.

i can understand that, but i get too cold in dresses (winters here can be quite cold). besides, i like wearing nice dress pants, a blouse and a blazer or pantsuit instead.

The girls/women wear long dresses or skirts and blouses. The boys/men wear pants and button down shirts. No short dresses/skirts or shorts. They are all very plain and boring. No individuality.

There are several fundamental sects that determine the type of clothing and hairstyles their members must have. As long as the members of these sects are in agreement with that, then they are free to choose. Several of the Dugger's kids are of an age where they could easily abandon the belief system they were raised with and they have chosen not to.

I didn't have to wear dresses all the time but my mother had a hard time getting me to wear them at all and that went for skirts as well.

So many children could have gone to those gay/lesbian loving parents if it were permitted. Those children in foster care need a home and loving permanent parents more than the Duggars needing to give birth to so many kids. They didn't adopt ANY kid, and it makes me feel like they don't want the "damaged" kids. They want their own perfect kids. When I was in foster care, I wanted so badly to be adopted and not have to live in hellholes that some of my foster homes were. Only two were good foster homes. I wanted to be loved, be taken care of, and not be abused and neglected (I was abused and neglected by my dad and his wife), and not to bounce around many strange foster homes and a horrible children's home. It's not fair. What about us?
Life isn't always fair. Children part of families get the worst deal too not just neglected/forgotten kids in the foster system. There are so many things going on behind the closed doors and whatever happens stays in the house. Thats how it has been and always will be.

Not many people can handle foster or bond to some kid instantly as some do perfer their own blood. It's not being selfish, its called having a choice.

Its up to each person to decide what they are comfortable with and to be honest with you, not many will be willing to put up with foster kids. My coworker could not have children and she decided to give foster a spin and ended up realizing that its not her thing and waited till they went back to their real father then turned down new foster calls afterwards and let the license expire. I work with mental ill/behavioral/emotional and low functioning clients at a group home, I see this all of them time. They're always forgotten at the holidays. Their own families do not want to do anything with them and the sad part is... they still love their families and never understand why their families do not come.

I would not mind fostering myself because its my ability to be able to adapt to a kid that's not my own blood. However I do perfer the kid to be deaf. For obvious reasons lol.

Its kind of harsh judgemental thing to pass on to a family who obviously have not put a burden on the system and from what I read, none of the kids are into criminal activity- all are being taken care of, have food, have clothes, have roof on their heads and I think its all good. What about those parents in the cities who even can't keep their own kid out of trouble? Being a parent is a full-time job and I applaud all moms in this world that has managed and is managing to keep their kids out of trouble.

I wonder if any one of the kids will realize how sheltered they were and rebel against their parents?

I doubt it would be happen to parent with children.

Yeah, My mom love me to wear a dresses. She used to dress me when I was little girl. It's normal. She gave me a pantsuit of jean whatever I want to wear. She wanted me to make a match color. She let me make my own wear a clothes whatever I want when I was teenager.

She didn't like me to wear a punk clothes when i was teenager.

I am usually go to Plato's Closet store. It's affordable. I love to wear a chic clothes with my taste. I can't afford to buy an expensive clothes from Mall. You know all mall department's clothes sent to Plato's closet to reduce the price. That's good deal!

Hi Oceanbreeze,

for explanation.

Hear Again, Oceanbreeze´s explanation is better than my description about "cult-like".
