Police Probe Allegation Against Bill Cosby..

LOS ANGELES - A female acquaintance of comedian Bill Cosby has made an allegation against him that has prompted a police investigation in Pennsylvania, the entertainer's attorney said Thursday.

Attorney Walter Phillips said he spoke Thursday with authorities in Pennsylvania who told him they have begun an investigation. He would not discuss the specifics of the allegation — which he called "utterly preposterous" — but said it amounts to, at the most, "inappropriate touching."

No charges have been brought against Cosby.

Phillips said the accuser, who lives in Canada, knows Cosby and the alleged incident in question happened about a year ago.

Police in Cheltenham Township, Pa., a Philadelphia suburb where Cosby has a home, declined to comment.

"I know the person making the accusation hasn't been contacted by authorities," Phillips said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press from his office in Philadelphia. "We are hopeful and optimistic that no charges will be brought forward."

Dave Selby, a spokesman with the Durham Regional Police in Durham, Ontario, said police had passed on allegations from a woman there to authorities in Pennsylvania but declined to confirm whether they involved Cosby.

Cosby postponed a town hall meeting in Cleveland on Thursday and has postponed three upcoming shows in Florida, his publicist David Brokaw said. Brokaw would not say whether the postponements have anything to do with the recent allegation.

I believe Bill Cosby is a pretty great guy...

if he did really do those sexual harrassments, he should've done them A LONG TIME ago...but damn, he must be like 70 or 80 years old now, I think...

eh, I just hope it's not true after all...

just like that "lakers" basketball player...I think his name was Kobe or something like that, right? well they dropped the case since the girl doesn't really have any proof that he "raped" her or anything like that...she only wanted to get him in trouble and get the money for her pity, but BUSTED! it all turns out to be a big fat lie...

that could be something similar to Bill Cosby's situation.

Cosby is in his late 60s.

This is probably another situation where someone is disgruntled with Cosby and wants to make a name for themselves. My opinion is that his reputation will hold up, and this will blow over with nary a whimper.

This is just stupid.

couldnt agree with u more than this Steel -- i used to LOVE watching "The Cosby Show" before it went off the air -- hes definately a good man and when i read the news abt his bitching to the black community over the language theyre using and his displeasure abt that -- i was very surprised and i actually applaud him for that too -- he has made many good points -- hes also pretty outspoken too

This is another case that the cops are racist biggots. They love picking on blacks its no secret. First the LAPD beat up on rodney king,,The LAPD the beat up a black kid outside the gas station it was videotaped too. then the LAPD beat up another black guy who was in a high speed chase he got out the car took off running and they used their sticks on him.Then Cincinatti PD beat up a black man outside mcdonalds trying to make an arrest used peppers spray used the stun gun and then he died of a heart attck thats also videotaped. I told you about cops most of them are racist biggots. All law enoforcement offecers is supposed to do is protect,Uphold the laws and enforce the laws. Not beat the living hell outta the suspect because hes been let out of jail 3 or 4 times.

Have you ever gotten the opportunity to listen to his records from the 60s? My Dad had a couple of his stand up routines in album form (yes, we're talking vinyl

I also have "Bill Cosby:Himself" on tape somewhere, too.

Eddie Murphy and Pryor were funny, too, but I prefer something alittle less vulgur than some of their stand up routines.

What do you expect the cops to do when the suspect refuses to cooperate? It's not only blacks. I've seen cops beat on whites before. It just happens that videos involving blacks are aired more because people are more shocked by it. It's all a biased issue. Not just cops hating blacks. If I showed a video of a cop beating on a white guy, you all probably wouldn't care. If I showed a video of a cop beaing on a deaf white guy, you all would probably freak out and get all pissed off at the cops for that kind of behavior.
