Incidents like that is bound to happen all over the nation. With the amount of arrests and bad/incomplete information 911 operators get, it's just inevitable. Even if only 0.5% of these kind of incidents happen, that's still probably 3-5 incidents a day that could be posted online and make people think it's a sign of evil or meanness.
Which reminds me of this story of a bunch of cops pulling over a car because a 7 year old was waving a toy gun around inside:

I would be totally ticked off. If they scared me and my kids like that I don't know what I would do.

It might be a good idea to have a sign that you can hold up although at night it's hard to see sometimes.
