I saw this on TV and the 379 person did not want to pay it forward .
Yeah, I saw that in the article. That's something nice to start someday.
I saw that on the article about it. The woman just want to pay for the caramel coffee type thing for the person behind her as she herself bought her own coffee. Then I don't know what make the person in front of her that bought the Caramel doing to pay for someone behind her. It is like a chain passing behind each other. It should be up to the person if they don't want to pay for the person behind. That was a puzzle to me. Never heard of having a chain of people paid to someone behind every time they come to the counter to buy and then willing to pay for someone behind. That is weird. This is new to me.
Poor people can't afford much Starbucks. It would be nicer if someone was paying for a poor persons food in the line at a grocery.
This is just middle class people being trendy.

We like to do this when going over a toll bridge. I will pay for me and the guy behind me. Hopefully that small gesture makes them smile and brightens their day a little bit.
That make sense, Angel. You would not want a angry or unhappy person behind you so you offer to do that. That is really a good gesture and letting him or her know that you care about have peace of mind.
That is really strange as the Starbucks is like a fast food restaurant only they serve coffees and probably serve donuts and sandwiches, I think. They are not suppose to get tips which is different than the real restaurant that the waiters and waitresses come to the tables to take orders and serve them. They are the ones they get tips. I have never gone to Starbucks, even we have Starbucks in grocery stores. I don't remember seeing real building (itself) for the Starbucks. The man who refuse to pay forward to the next customer behind paid the person who worked behind the counter $100 tip which is a lot. True that would be his decision.
It is like a chain mail that nobody wanted to dare end the chain and thought it was bad luck to break the chain. I don't know. It just amaze me what the society think.
That's what I was thinking. If someone is in line at a Starbucks they most likely don't need any help paying for their coffee in the first place.Poor people can't afford much Starbucks. It would be nicer if someone was paying for a poor persons food in the line at a grocery.

That was spontaneous giving, which it should be.I went to subway once for lunch during work hours, My card wouldn't work and I know I had money in the bank, after about 2 minutes of declining me, the guy behind me bought my lunch and said to pay it forward... I did quite a few times before and since then... guess it was just my turn that day.
Year ago, my parents were driving in the car behind us on the way home from a family get together. We paid their toll and they waived my dad through. For many miles my dad was trying to figure out why they let him through. Like "was it senior day" then he thought maybe he messed up. So I called them on the cel phone and told them we had paid his toll. It would have been nice if the toll worker would have said "the car in front of you paid for you".
I've done it many times and it's just super sweet to see the persons face. Some will drive up next to us and say thank you, you made my day.
Something so little really can make someones day.
