Homeowner killed the fleeing female burglar

Hope? Your really sick man!

I supported Castle Doctrine, and I don't think this old man deserves any prison time. He did nothing wrong to begin with.

Whoa! You would kiill a defenseless woman who's fleeing. You are fu*king sick like him.

You are dumb ____! If I were him, I would shoot her knee or leg instead of KILLING her. Is something wrong with your brain? It's not necessary to kill but you can wound a person. That's simple.

The district attorney will decide whether Greer will face criminal charges.
He murdered her because it was not self-defense.

There's a few issues with the case: he was robbed before numerous times and physically assaulted (according to some sources) during the invasion; he's 80 and being used as a favorite hunting ground by these people just robbing him at will and the police have done nothing to protect him. Was she pregnant or just lying? She could have been lying and being sarcastic because she thought an 80 year old couldn't do anything about it. We don't know how she said it or the tone so we can't assume anything. Clearly she was wrong about pushing someone this far. However as a gun owner, shooting someone in the back fleeing isn't a strong case. If his lawyer can make a case about the numerous times he was robbed and the affect it had on him emotionally, it may work in his favor. When you own guns, you have to know the right time to use it: when they're in the act of robbing and facing you - not running and shooting them in the back - it's just a weak defense. I do feel for the man but I think it's important for people to realize, we're not getting the whole story in the papers - just a lot of "he said, she said."

I remember in a law class I took reading about a man that was robbed numerous times and the cops did nothing. He built something so when the robber tried coming through the roof again, he was electrocuted and died as a result. The case stemmed on that there was no warning sign for intruders (ironic, huh?) but in the end he was acquitted because the police failed to protect him and it had a financial and emotional impact. This is what the case will hinge on for self defense.

First of all, do you trust burglar's comments? Only sick retarded people would believe everything what burglars said. Secondly, Burglar hurt the homeowner, then the homeowner gets right to defend themselves whether they are whatever they said so. Anything coming out of burglar's mouth means NOTHING, what if they had a gun and you had no idea?

For me, anyone breaking in my house EXPECT that it would come with lethal force regardless.

How about this, I hope somebody breaks in your place and kill you, because you believe burglar has right to break you and walks away. I will NOT defend you in any way.

Finally, you see that women LIED about pregnancy. Have you met a honest burglar? I don't think you and I have.

If you do what he did, don't come here to ask for helping you pay a bond.

Not to shift the topic too much but here's an interesting case, also involving self defense:

Armed Doctor Shoots Hospital Gunman - Police & Fire - Radnor, Pennsylvania | Patch

It's illegal to have a gun in this setting so I'll be curious to learn how this one will play out as well...

Armed Doctor Shoots Hospital Gunman
A psychiatrist used his own weapon to stop a shooter Thursday at Mercy-Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Delaware County.
By Alison Smith July 24, 2014 at 6:57 pm

A gunman who had shot two people, killing one, at a Delaware County hospital was stopped Thursday afternoon when his own doctor shot him.

A female case worker was killed by psychiatric patient at Mercy-Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Delaware County, Thursday afternoon, NBC10 reported.

The doctor, a psychiatrist, then used his own weapon to stop the shooter, NBC said.

The gunman has been identified as Richard Plotts, 53, The Philadelphia Inquirer said. Plotts was shot multiple times, in the torso and the arm.

Plotts was taken to the trauma center at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where NBC said he was listed in critical condition Thursday night.

The doctor -- whom multiple sources have identified to the Inquirer as psychiatrist Lee Silverman, 52 -- also was shot by the suspect; a bullet grazed his head. Authorities have not officially identified him, NBC said.

The case worker has not been identified by authorities, pending the notification of her family.

Plotts arrived at the Sister Marie Lenahan Wellness Center on the hospital campus Thursday afternoon with the case worker, NBC said. The shootout in a third-floor office began around 2:20 p.m., the Inquirer said.

After Plotts had been shot, other hospital employees wrestled him to the ground.

The hospital campus was under lockdown for several hours Thursday afternoon.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan told the Inquirer that he didn't know whether hospital staff were permitted to carry weapons.

It was unclear Thursday evening whether the doctor was licensed to carry, or whether the hospital has metal detectors.

The gun Plotts used to shoot the doctor and caseworker was apparently his own, NBC said.

There is the article that the investigator said the female is not pregnant.

Pennsylvania, my native state is pro-gun state. Totally opposite as NYS.

I dunno about that doctor, I find it interesting. question is, how long he had that gun before this tragic event happened? If he had it for many years, I would let him go. We can not depend on police all the time, it is NOT effective, and having one depends on cop would give crooks opportunity to do more severe crimes onto victims.

Don't forget somebody breaking in the homes automatically qualifies as felony offense status, so meaning if somebody breaks in the house is a FELON period. How would you trust a felon?

Of course, why would she be honest in the first place? She lied to protect herself and take advantage of victim just because she is woman, for all I care she could be male after all.

Castle Doctrine should be held on this case.

CP, Why are you trying to give crooks more rights and take victims rights away? Something is wrong with you! How about this, I hope you will be a victim losing all the rights to the felon crooks?

It was not self-defense when he murdered her while she was fleeing regardless of her fake pregnant. It doesn't matter what she said. It matters what he did. Period. If he didn't murder her, then why does DA consider whether or not he's charged of murder? If he didn't murder her, DA wouldn't consider it, right?

The district attorney will decide whether Greer will face criminal charges.

You don't think straight. *smh* You will shoot a felon's back when he's fleeing? You will be found guilty of murder because it is not self-defense. Even a cop is not allowed to shoot an unarmed criminal who's fleeing.

Cop's job is to chase down, 80 years old man can't!

You need to understand the difference between cops and resident owners

Crooks run away from armed homeowner, if not shot, crook could come back and shot him.

Crooks running away from cops, if not shot, have no way to come back to cop, because crooks don't know where that cop would be when he comes back.

The difference is, crooks knows where homeowner lives and can revenge on them, while crooks generally don't have an idea where cops lives, so far less chance of revenge.

Remember one incident where the old man killed two teen burglars. Right now he's in prison. You will be if you do what he did.

There is high chance that you will miss the shooting if you attempt to shoot in leg or knee, not easy place to shoot, also it will not prevent the death.

Right, it is not easy to shoot arm and leg since they move faster than the body. You know, CP never touch gun and never shoot gun he had no clue anyway.
