NYPD Cop in Chokehold Death Loses Gun, Badge

The NYPD does have a policy against using these. I found that it's considered "excessive force", and is usually grounds for termination. They're very strict about the use of these.

Both are at fault.

Both are at fault.

Yeah, I know. Still doesn't justify using it. Most police departments prohibit the use of these, as does most federal agencies. One of the few that does is NCIS, and that's all I know about.

Resist the arrest could lead to fatal by LEO and that why you shouldn't resist the arrest, also not all LEO follow their policy.

Just with caution.

Yeah, I know. That's why it's unwise to start trouble in the first place.

Whaaaaatttt?

No, that's excessive force leading to wrongful death. NYC WILL pay millions dollars for it.

If you resist the arrest = you die

In some cases, court sided with city or police department.

Why are you resist the arrest? You will never going to win the fight.

WRONG! Tell me why the cops who killed him are put on a desk job.

Didn't you watch the video showing that the cops were embarrassed that the victim didn't wake up?

There was an episode in Blue Bloods TV show with the situation like this... in the end, the cop loses his job.

Is it okay to resist the arrest and fight with LEO?

NYPD is investigating in this situation and two LEO weren't terminated, but they are currently doing desk job. In old time, chokehold was standard procedure, especially if you resist the arrest and now, we have taser as alternative to take suspect down on street.

I already saw those video - why did I created this thread? I wouldn't create this thread if I haven't watch those video.

I disagree with you and I stand my statement about both are at fault.

I saw that episode a few weeks back, just before the end of the season. That cop killed someone else, and forced the Commissioner to terminate the officer. He deserved to lose his shield in that case.

You wouldn't say that if it happens to your family member. Right?

"Well, my brother resisted arrest so it's his fault that he died". PFFFT!

I can't believe that YOU don't know that chokehold can be fatal. *smh*

Oh, wanna bet? NYC will pay millions dollars or not?

Actually it's not, if done properly. You can't put a person in a chokehold for no more than 13 seconds. Any more than that is risky.

Why do my family would break a law? My family is smart enough to not resist the arrest. The resist to arrest could lead you to die, even without chokehold and taser can be fatal to some people.

See Mark's statement above about chokehold.

Some court cases about "alleged" police brutality got dismissed, anyway.

WTF are you saying? How did the victim die?

Chokehold was too tight. There is a right way and a wrong way to do it. Police departments don't use these for a reason-- it could lead to all kinds of lawsuits.

Yes, except for extreme case if all other method fails.

or LEO could shoot the suspect to die if they can't take down and make an arrest, after taser fail.

They got dimissed but the cities paid millions millions millions dollars for wrongful deaths.

You don't wanna bet?
